Since all restaurants are now to go or curbside service, why not sell hard to get grocery items like meat, milk, eggs, paper products, etc. instead of just selling cooked food and drinks?
I am thinking of something like the following: you place an order at the restaurant for your meal, but you can also add a dozen eggs, a gallon of milk, two pounds of meat, etc. Or another alternative would be simply to have the ability to order groceries instead of cooked food. I have to believe Sysco, Ben E. Keith etc would be supportive of this idea and be able to provide consumer friendly packaging options of many things instead of a 10 lb can of beans or tomatoes. Of course, I doubt anyone would complain about having to purchase a gallon of Purell or 50 pack of Charmin.
I am thinking this can be an alternate revenue stream to keep people employed and allow the business to survive. I do not own a restaurant, therefore, this idea may not be reasonable. And I am sure there are some regulatory issues that need to be overcome as well.
