Getting some test results in....

So the Urgent Care I work for started doing some testing about 4 days ago (through Quest).

We have 19 tests returned so far and 7 positives.

All the patients are doing well (they are all at home after probably on average, 7 days of symptoms)

We tried to be selective with our testing and only test symptomatic folks at high risk for complications, health care providers, likely exposures.......etc.

After 3 days of heavy testing, we have now slowed the testing due to limited testing kits. Looking forward to the results on the 500+ tests that are out there processing for us.

Several of the patients who tested positive had no recent travel, no known exposures..........so community transmission is out there! (Stay home!)

Do you think the numbers in the area being tracked by local media outlets (like this link below) are accurate? Based on some very limited knowledge of a few confirmed infections, I feel like it's not (and could be giving people a false sense of security).

I know an anesthesiologist who works for a hospital in The Woodlands and she said they are trying to keep things hush hush and keep the public from panicking.

They announced last week that any test results will be reported to the government who is then relaying the information to the public. So maybe they can keep what city they are coming from quiet, but people will start seeing state numbers go up.

Not sure if they are hiding it or the data is just slow to roll in.

I would hope they widely publicize the big numbers along with the fact that most people are doing well.

The purpose of my post was to let everyone know

1. We have to assume everyone has it......community acquired, and stay quarantined.

2. Most folks are doing really well, so don't panic. just be smart and stay away from other people.

They tell us 4-5 days. First ones that trickled in were 4 days.

We'll see if that changes

That and apply some politically incorrect common sense to the situation. The last time I was at the ER, some 5 years ago to get 10 stiches from a saw blade error, the girl in the partition next to me was basically there to get free cough drops. Instead of spending her own $2 at Walgreens, she came to the ER to get free ones.

Can you imagine the scene if all of the feral humans started showing up at hospitals about now to get free testing for no reason?

I think it's a combination of not testing enough people, delays in getting test results, and officials not reporting information right away.

I'm sure HIPAA is playing a role in all of this.

As an example, the Montgomery Co LEO who is positive went to the rodeo on Feb 28. The rodeo wasn't cancelled until March 11, when that case went public. And he was already in the hospital by then. I doubt he was asymptomatic for the full 12 days in between.

So, either he wasn't tested in a timely manner and/or there was a delay in notifying the public.

This is was makes me think that the virus has been running its course since Dec / Jan and all these numbers and testing is a bunch of drama and fearmongering.

We done burned the lifeboats on this deal by ****ing the economy.

We bout to be up **** creek.

People gonna be missing them lease payments at the end of the month.
