There is a press conference, but all that has been said about it is he will give an update on what the state is doing.
Every time there is an announced news conference, the first assumption is he's going to shut down the state.
Could that be what it is about, yes. Right now is it anything more than rumor and speculation, no.

Cool. Just weird I couldn't find anything official on the press conference on his twitter account, etc. I'm probably not looking in the right places.
Someone with connections at MD Anderson told me last night Abbott would be doing a shutdown today. That's why I was trying to find the time officially. We'll see.

In a time like this, people want to see the leaders, whether that is the President of the US, Governor of Texas, CEO of your company or your boss. It gives us all a sense that they are working around the clock on this crisis.
It could be that he's going to shut the state down or it could just be a periodic update to show us that he is leading.
