We're praying for our friends and church in Zambia. Fortunately eleven of the twelve confirmed cases have all be intercepted at the airport as people returned from international travel. The government has been very proactive in implementing closures, educating about social distancing and hand washing. Anyone entering the country who tests positive will be quarantined by the government. All others will be required to self quarantine for fourteen days.

I know we all have those others we worry about, but in God's eyes, they are all important. Please keep the people of places like Zambia in your prayers.

I have the same concern. We have a lot of missionary friends in Africa. I was planning on going to Kenya again this summer, but that isn't happening. It is impossible to both implement and enforce a quarantine in countries like Kenya, and I'm concerned that this virus will be devastating.

nice awareness post... sometimes we tend to be consumed with our own issues happening in our home country and forget other places will get hit harder that may not have the medical resources available to them.

You are correct with regard to medical resources. That's what prompted us to come back to the U.S. - I fall in a high risk category because of my age and ascending aortic aneurysm. But, a lot of medical NGOs have an ongoing presence there which may be why Zambia is being so proactive in trying to get out in front of things.

A couple of things working in their favor - most folks normal mode of transportation is on foot meaning they don't go too far from home. Also, in Zambia at least, folks tend to really respect authority and do what they're told. My biggest fear is most folks don't have electricity or refrigeration and depend of daily trips to the market to shop. Markets could be a big problem, but what do you do?
