I love his expertise and I'll take a ton from it, but I guess I'm skeptical of the sheer number of cases projected by some. I think the social distancing and canceled events will dramatically lower the number of cases.

Opportunity to get more "world famous" and sell more of his 13 books. Some Doctors go through all that education to help people. Some do it to feed their ego.Marcus Aurelius said:

Ya and even scientists that are considered experts in their field are right until new evidence emerges. Best to stay in your lane. It's simply ego when someone wants to give an opinion or prediction outside of their domain of knowledge. Would you take the former mechanical engineer that studied for a year or just simply seek out a chemical engineer that has decades of experience? This guy's opinion is useless with the exception of dinner talk compared to the numerous experts in the field.Nuclear Scramjet said:Marcus Aurelius said:

To an extent sure, but the longer this thing goes on, the more and more doctors who are not necessarily infectious disease experts will begin to study it and disease spread.
For instance, I could take a chemical engineer and have them focus entirely on mechanical engineering for a year and be confident they would have a pretty good handle on mechanical engineering after a year. Ultimately, so long as you can understand the technical aspects of the field and the terminology, then if you dedicate a lot of time to study it then you could become very well versed in the subject.
I agree with you at the moment, but doctors are like engineers in this regard. Most of them are smart enough to understand other fields very well given a period of time of dedicated and intense study. They won't be experts since that takes decades of experience but they will be able to traverse the subject matter very well.

Damn. It's good to be informed but that was a little over the top. "How are you going to pay for your mom's funeral when you're unemployed?"
