I hope this is alright to post here -- I was forwarded the link from some Aggie co-workers.

Due to the current COVID-19 Crisis, many TAMU students are in need of access to a sustainable food source until the end of the Spring Semester, April 28th. These students may have been affected by employer closures, or just not have the ability to cook food in their current housing situation.

We at Dorm Dish and Friday Harbour have partnered with Cavalry Court Hotel & The George Hotel to provide meals at no cost to members of the TAMU community. We are calling all Aggies and their connections, as well as family and friends of the BCS community to help us Feed Maroon for the next 5 weeks.

Any and all donations will help,

$8 = two meals to one member of this community

$65 = two meals to one member of this community for a week

$300 = two meals to one member of this community for 5 weeks

Serious question, how would these students have eaten if there was no virus? If in the dorm, are dining halls closed?

It's an evolving situation, so apologies if I get this wrong, but my understanding is that campus dining has closed with maybe the exception of Sbisa. Maybe someone else can confirm?

That's what I had heard. So wondering why they can't get food there.

Eating at Sbisa isn't free. This is just speculation, but I imagine students who could go home have done so. Those still in town may not be by choice, and with the university more or less shut down are likely not getting paid.

FWIW I believe dining services has cut or furloughed essentially all (several hundred) employees.

I know it's not free, but why would it need to be? If school were still in session, they could use the dining hall on a meal plan or cash basis. Those options should not have evaporated due to classes being cancelled. I'm just trying to understand the situation where a student can't get food on their own.

It's for the situation where a student can't afford to buy food due to loss of income stream.

In my time at A&M one of my dorm buddies was homeless for a semester in his senior year and slept in the engineering college or MSC, showered at the Rec Center. Life happens.
