I know people have said it is theorized that you you are exposed to a person with a mild case or asymptomatic it is almost like a vaccine where you get a little of it and then are fine opposed to a serious case where you are more likely to get symptoms.

so are we locking up people that could be getting light cases only to possibly be exposed to a more serious case at a later date?

Is that why we are seeing nursing homes hit so hard? They are older, but they also have limited outside exposure so by the time someone becomes symptomatic and has a bad case they are exposing everyone to a serious case?

That was the gist of a NYT editorial from two Princeton researchers, Joshua D. Rabinowitz and Caroline R. Bartman.

They argued that mild exposure historically allowed for greater societal immunities to develop without the resulting fatalities.

If true, could this also explain why healthcare workers seem to get hit pretty severely, as they are exposed to the most extreme cases?

This is conjecture at this point and has not yet been proven with this virus.

That also lines up with the theory that viral load is a major indicator of symptom severity and asymptomatic/mild cases shed less of the virus than severe patients.
