Don't just assume that you can stop paying your student loans based on recent headlines. This is particularly true if you took out a loan prior to 2010.
I kept seeing that student loan interest is suspended, and now payments for a lot of loans were going to be stopped automatically. However, mine still seemed to be accruing interest. I didn't even know until just a few minutes ago that my loans were Federal Family Education Loan Program ("FFELP") loans. These were apparently loans made prior to 2010. Some of them are now owned by the government, but not all of them. The ones that are owned by private institutions, including Navient, are not automatically suspended.
If you have student loans, I would encourage you to look at them and find out which type you have. The loan details in your loan should tell you what type of loan you have. Also, the Navient website had a lot of useful information.
