They are processing their tests at Quest and LabCorp. Other people are experiencing 7-10 day backlog at LabCorp and Quest.

This happens to be near my house and I drove by it... all I have heard is it's almost impossible to get tested and here is a drive up place in Montgomery County.

Are you suggesting we can drive by LabCorp and Quest for the same thing, same time for results - drive thru?

My wife has has mild congestion the past few days so she's over there right now getting the test.

She just got back. Looks like it's some sort of "throat swab" right now, but they said they were hoping by about Wednesday they would have a finger-prlck blood test that could have results back in about 5 minutes.

Why aren't they using the Abbott machine/test?
5-15 minute results.

I strongly believe huge testing numbers are going be what pushes the media away from panic, but I am curious why your wife felt the need to get tested with congestion? Literally not a symptom at all

Detroit was using them.

Pence mentioned they were being used for first responders that were considered "exposed".

There is no line, why not? I really think everyone should be tested.

She had a hacking cough and chest had a bit of pressure; could be mental .

Was supposed to available this past week
Supposedly there are 18,000 machines in the US. Don't know who has em. Think they are $10,000 each. At $150/test, 70 tests is the initial payout.
Maybe they (ER) don't won't to make the investment. I may contact Abbott myself and see how you find out who has the machines and availability.

you don't make $150 profit per test, right?

from what i understand, after all the people working the mobile site get paid and the lab gets paid, it's break even

one reason they do the mobile testing is to try and keep the covid suspects patients in their cars

i don't think anyone is making money testing

Abbott originally said 50k per day starting Apr 1. Article is dated April 3 and references a "document circulated this week". Could that document have been before Apr 1, or before tests shipped on Apr 1 made it to the labs.
