So wildlife could have it?
How's that work with quarantine?
And why did a tiger get a test?

It's not that unusual for diseases to affect more than one or two species.itsyourboypookie said:

Read cuterebra's post, so they didn't take a human's test, but oh well.
/s I think it is easier than you think to get a tiger, if you really want one... /sensign_beedrill said:
why use a test on a tiger when most people can't even get one?
I was talking about people getting a test, not a tiger. Sorry for the ambiguity.Dustoff00 said:/s I think it is easier than you think to get a tiger, if you really want one... /sensign_beedrill said:

For the last several weeks I have been keeping my dog on leash in our normally off leash hiking foothills to avoid anyone petting her or her mixing with other dogs. It's honestly very hard when we come across one of her "friends" on the trails.Gordo14 said:OnlyForNow said:

If animals like dogs or cats can be hosts of the virus it adds another pathway of possible human infection we need to be aware of. This could be a source of restarting community spread if the virus could jump back and forth between humans and animals. Knowing what this virus can do, which includes all pathways of spreading the virus will be critical to mitigation until we get a vaccine. Maybe Jim catches the virus, has really mild symptoms, self quarantines until he's virus free, but his dog goes to a dog park and gets 20 dogs sick. And before you know it 150 people have the virus.

For example, quite a few species can get rabies including bats, cats, dogs, raccoons, cattle, sheep, horses, coyotes, wolves, and people. Rabies can probably infect smaller animals such as rodents as well, but they are more likely to be killed in the attack.

Fun fact, possums don't carry rabies
