Are these general anti viral? Would they or similar drugs help in fighting this virus? If so...these are supposed to be safe to take.

Herpes is viral, those types of drugs fight it somehow.

Not a doc or scientist. Generally curious. Is it that these are too selective in how they function?

I personally have the oral version which is annoying if I get sunburned or am very stressed out. The issue for mine is when bad, it swells the lymph nodes on entire side of face and throat where the blister is located. Only thing that resolves is Releve and Famicyclovir.

The reason I asked the question isn't for the POS trolls in here, legitimately had helped as a side effect with a cold in past for me.

These meds probably won't do much in Covid-19. I believe they are nucleoside analogues that competitively inhibit DNA polymerase enzymes.

Since SARS-CoV-2 is an RNA and not DNA virus, there should be little to no effect on its replication with Acyclovir.
