Intriguing until you get to the "footnote" disclaimer at the end.

Quote:

(Cover: At the time of publication, Antevy had posted his second, positive, third, negative, and fourth, negative results for COVID-19 antibodies on his Twitter account.

So he was either right that he had it in January and these antibody tests are all over the place, OR (even more concerning) he was exposed recently and immunity is very short-lived.

I'm just a DVM, not an MD. Am I looking at this wrong?

EDIT: See commentary below Re: source.

There are going to be a number of people who had the flu this season and then caught coronovirus

Of course. That is not the point of this post.

I'm guessing it was just a false positive. They happen.

2 false positives, followed by 2 negatives?

Other articles out there suggesting antibodies are a lot harder to test, so could be two true positives and two false negatives. Gonna need a lot larger population sample to know anything.

A lot of the antibody tests have been crap. Sorry, it's just the truth.

Is that an article from CGTN?

I don't even know what CGTN is, but it is referencing a series of tweets by an ED MD that has been tweeting pretty credible updates throughout this. Go to his twitter feed for more info.

EDIT: So CGTN is a Chinese media company. But the tweets it is referencing seem legit. Plenty of possibility of propaganda here though. I was more interested in the pattern of the antibody results in the tweets than the source of the article. But beware.

The Chinese media company is pushing this because they would love to discredit the fact that this is a Chinese Virus.

The ChiComs are fabricating the story that this originally came from the US.

I definitely get why the Chinese would want to spin this or use it to their advantage. I guess I was more interested in the tweets/test results themselves, if true. And that is n=1 series of antibody tests, so huge grain of salt and all that. Where did this MD get tested 4 days in a row for antibody when no one else seems to be able to get one test?

What tests are those? They don't look like the Abbott ones I have seen.

Maccura isn't FDA approved as far as I can tell... it's probably more about the test than anything else.

Would you consider taking a pass on the "just a dvm" stuff? Have some pride in your accomplishment for goodness sake.

Not the place or time to debate the rigors of gaining admission to or completing veterinary school. I can assure you having trained in a medical school and a veterinary school, having taught medical and veterinary students, and having operated with veterinary and MD surgeons, the "Just a dvm" comment is not representative of the degree.

Veterinary programs/hospitals/referral centers are not getting any attention (and that's ok - not equating value of human vs animal life) in the media but we've got our hands full with COVID related shortages, staff losses, student losses, and reduced ability to care for injured animals. Moreover, it appears that domestic house cats can contract the virus, work is in progress to determine if they can infect humans (zoonotic).

Summary: you play an important part in the health care paradigm.

Agree completely with everything you said. I am exceedingly proud of my degree and my accomplishments. I was not intending to be self-deprecating. It was more out of respect for the human side of things and what they are dealing with.

I was just trying to stay in my lane.

Saying "just" a DVM was where I erred.

Not to mention the inspection and safety of our food supply.

Sure seems that way.
