Is there some survey about this that already exists?
I'm thinking something simple like:
1) Available beds
2) Available ICU beds
3) Approximate supply of PPE needed for full capacity.

Is there any way we can get this information?

Are there any laws against reporting this?

Will hospital administrators be unwilling to provide this information to a credible organization?

It would be useful information for policy administrators and the public to have, but I haven't seen any reports of it.

The mayor of Dallas is sending out some of this each day

I didn't expect Dallas to be over 60% of ICU beds in use at this point. Not great considering how low our #s are in Texas.

I don't think those are CV only stats.

Louisiana is posting theirs daily and spells out Covid only. We're off our peak slightly although probably above our pre-outbreak capacity (without converting other beds into ICU, etc.)

Isn't it somewhere around 50% of ICU beds are occupied on any given day? These numbers are a little meaningless without data on normal occupancy levels.

And do those metrics take into account non ICU rooms that were (possibly) concerted to ICU

Then I'm not really sure how any of those numbers should give pause on their own...

I thought ICU #s would be lower. That's all.

As a hospital administrator I can assure you we are reporting these stats daily to the city, county, state, and our corporate office daily.

Every day there is a new version of the survey and something else to count. Beds, vents, PPE supplies, pharmaceuticals etc. very labor intensive but happy to do it if it will help anyone.

We also have CMS surveyors doing readiness assessments. Thankfully it seems to be a quick 45 minute visit instead of the usual 5 day survey.

Also I can't speak to ICU occupancy but hospital occupancy is down overall more than 60% since Abbott's order. There are plenty of beds.

Occupancy rates generally run around 80% plus. Hospitals began clearing out elective procedure occupancy in early late Feb, early March, in preparation for the expected onslaught of COVID patients. Here are the general estimates according the Advisory Board as of March 5.

According to their data, Texas hospitals, in general, were around 60%. Houston, Dallas and San Antonio had a combined occupancy rate of 65.9%. So, you can work your way forward from there to develop a rough estimate for current occupancy rates.

Here's everything you need sans PPE: https://opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/1044bb19da8d4dbfb6a96eb1b4ebf629_0.csv

Edit: TexAgs no like my link. But it still works to get the .csv file.
