I thought this was interesting and hadn't seen it discussed yet (I apologize if it was discussed here and I missed it - I'm on my 4th day in a row of working 12+ hours and haven't been able to keep up with everything).

Roseland Hospital Antibody Testing

Quote:

A phlebotomist working at Roseland Community Hospital said Thursday that 30% to 50% of patients tested for the coronavirus have antibodies while only around 10% to 20% of those tested have the active virus.
Sumaya Owaynat, a phlebotomy technician, said she tests between 400 and 600 patients on an average day in the parking lot at Roseland Community Hospital. Drive-thru testing is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. each day. However, the hospital has a limited number of tests they can give per day.
Owaynat said the number of patients coming through the testing center who appear to have already had coronavirus and gotten over it is far greater than those who currently have the disease.

A phlebotomy tech wouldn't even be running the test or necessarily even have access to the results...

Even if true not particularly relevant it is not a random sample very likely many of the people seeking this test felt it was likely they had been exposed and had gotten better. It is not even debatable that many people had it could not get tested self quarantined and got better. The Telluride numbers I am very interested in I hope they are available soon

Antibody tests are blood draws so yes a phlebotomist would be doing them

Agree so the positive asymptomatic patients are probably even a higher percentage. Great news if true.

Personally don't think we can make an estimate on asymptomatic %'s. And15 days of testing is 7500 non random samples 7500/population of Chicago is a small number

Well, is it 30% or 50%? Sound like bull**** theorizing to me.

LMAO this is journalism and medical reporting now I guess. Good lord.

I would be very happy if this is true but every other actual study I have seen points to 5-15% with good titers in Europe.

It's her anecodotal observation. No personal information given. Why would she be fired?

Hospitals do not like that kind of stuff.

Agree. It's a business, and they don't like people using company resources to take this stuff to the press. And she probably has no need to know the results, which would be violating patient privacy under HIPAA and compliance guidelines.

And I'll be the first to admit hospitals are not always as transparent as they should be.

Yep. I've been in the medical field for 10 years and have known plenty of people who have been fired for much less.

Usually over a stupid Facebook post.
