Any thoughts? What's the word with Covid to let a fever of 102ish go vs trying to knock it down? I know it helps innate system but does it increase risk of cytokine storm?

That is not the question... do you treat the fever or not?

Take a Tylenol. Some unclear evidence exists against nsaids.

I've always tried to knock out fevers ASAP. Sweat it out under blankets and pop Tylenol. Can sleep better and be more alert when awake

But I've never had one as part of this virus.

I usually just use a sheet and try to get my temp down faster. Shiver through it.

I'm asking more from the therapeutic point of view.

Is there any evidence suggesting fevers are more helpful or more harmful in this situation? I can see it both ways.

I think you might feel better if you knock it down. Plus you don't want it going much higher making you feel even worse?

Not a doctor.

Fever is a mechanism that the body uses to make the body's condition unfavorable for the virus to replicate. If it were me and the fever was bearable, I would let it run it's course and fight the virus. Especially since we have no Verified cure at this time. Obviously if it gets high enough to potentially cause other bodily harm it needs to be controlled.

I've had the same question as the OP. Interested in the medical opinions.

The study suggests you can strengthen your immune system by taking a hot bath then going outside where it's cold. Hmmmm..

I'm not a doctor, but have wondered about this same thing. When I've had fevers in the past the doctor has always recommended taking some type of fever reducer. Maybe best to post your question in the stickied thread at the top. Several doctors are responding to questions on there.

For the longest time working in ICU, we would only treat fever in most patients if the temp rose to greater than 101.5. I remember the evidence was somewhat controversial, but it was generally agreed that there was no benefit for treating fevers lower than that.

Doc friend suggested to not treat unless the fever is super high.

If I don't feel too bad I leave a fever alone. For example I've gone hours and hours between 101 and low 102s without ever taking a thing. If I feel really bad and have a fever of any temp I will take something and if I hit 103 I will definitely take something but I've never been that high without feeling really bad too. It feels like that system has worked well for me and I plan in sticking with it.
