2 more reports of long term health impacts....and other symptoms.

Dont know how credible. Hopeully not. But just sharing.

The stats still dont support the actions taken, so i still wonder if the worst news is still out there like this, or if the real story has yet to be written on this *****

We don't know the long-term effects yet. The NYMag article was a clickbait scare-piece.

1. "Scientists report a case of a body infecting a live patient." !!!
No ***** Pathogens don't die as soon as the hosts do. There's a reason dead bodies smell bad. There's a reason people performing autopsies use PPE.

2. "The Coronavirus may have severe impacts on liver and heart function in some patients" !!!
No ***** So do a lot of other illnesses. Being sick can put strain on your heart. Respiratory illnesses in particular have a potential to cause cardiac issues (most are temporary). A lot of illnesses also cause temporary changes to liver function. These are well-known issues. We don't have the follow-up data to show whether or not these changes are temporary or long-lasting following infection with Covid-19.

3. "The Coronavirus may attack T-cells, similar to HIV" !!!
This one pissed me off the most. The author used the phrase "more-harrowing evidence for the long-term consequences of contracting the virus." This fear monger can go sit on a pole. He didn't read the article and doesn't understand key differences between HIV and Covid-19 or their effects on T-cells. There's no evidence that Covid-19 has long-term effects on the immune system. None. It is not HIV.

4. "Trump's touted treatment could increase risk for heart arrhythmias" !!!
Why was this even included in an article about the "Long-term Effects of the Coronavirus?"

The author, just like a lot of others, conflated chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. They are two different drugs. The study also focused on severely ill patients taking different dosages of chloroquine and, as could be expected, the higher dose of chloroquine had more severe effects. Hydroxychloroquine has lower risk profile and is likely ineffective in helping people who are severely ill. It has the potential as a prophylactic and to help people who are moderately sick stay out of the hospital, but these uses are not the focus of recently published studies.

5. "COVID-19 could be causing kidney damage" !!!
A TON of acute illnesses cause acute kidney injuries and many people do just fine once recovered. Without long-term studies there's no way to tell how long-term this damage is. But again, let's run to the hills.

6. "It's not all bad though" !!!
No mention of survival rate (very high) or people who do just fine. But contact tracing jobs are coming! Woo hoo!

The entire point of this article, as stated in the introduction, is that opening up the economy could be really scary.

It was just published for clicks or the group that wants to get to Trump by burning everything down. It's getting old. Big yawn.

It's almost like the media is anti-science.

For the record, not a Trump fan, I just call it like I see it.

I'm beginning to think there's a large population in this country who are lazy ****ing people who don't want this to ever end...and want a Government check for life. They have nothing to lose, because their lives were pathetic before the virus.

It's a four-letter word. The filter also starred the period.

Ohhh that makes sense. And you good, nothing wrong with a little profanity here and there. I was just wondering how I'd gone my whole life not knowing about 5 letter cuss words

As much as I've heard the words 'Trump's touted treatment' over the past 45-days, you'd think the mf'er has an infomercial selling it on QVC.

Thanks for posting your answers. I have been using ZPAK for lung infections for a number of years. It has been a super drug for me.

I took the malaria drug in Vietnam for a while. I think the only side effects I had was a bad taste in my mouth. Stop taking the drug because I kept choking on the big horse pill. I did want to choke to death in central Vietnam.

You tell the sheep with TDS positive, factual information and they simply can't listen. They go into anger mode, denial mode.....and you can see them make up information right in front of you and they then get mad at what they just made up in their head.

It is remarkable to watch.

This guy is the classic TDS example. What to paint Trump as a idiot. Has anger and ownership issues.

please expound on why the military would permanently bar anyone who ever had covid 19 from service?

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/05/06/coronavirus-survivors-banned-from-joining-the-military/

because the only reason i can think of is that the early doomsday rumors and info i was getting is true - this is a potentially multi stage virus with life long and recurring health problems.

also, the only reason i can think of for the drastic government actions also supports such a gloomy prognosis.

also, the only reason i can think of for all the lacking information, misinformation, and disinformation from all public sources would be a similarly gloomy prognosis.

so while the publicly available stats dont look bad at all, and the publicly available info doesnt look that bad at all, everything key decision makers are actually DOING continues to spell a really gloomy scenario.

so tell me why this is all wrong and its no big deal.

and dont talk about politics or re-opening economy. i think the economy should be geared back up and freedoms preserved even if this virus outlook is really gloomy. that is not the point. the point is - lasting health effects, multi stage, etc., or not?

They are not permanently disqualified. They just have to get a medical waiver that determines they are not at risk. Apparently this is the same procedure as if you show up with a case of pink eye. You have to get well first and then get medical approval. Nothing sinister here.

Fake news then or maybe i read it wrong. Because i would think from the way i read it that such a waiver is not commonplace.

It's impossible to talk about long term effects of a virus that had only been infecting people since December.

It seems logical to me that if there is a risk of long term damage to organs from the virus, that there would be an even bigger push to offer treatments as early as possible in the course of the disease that may reduce the length and severity of symptoms.
