My humble heartburn med is being investigated as possible therapy. I tried to get an Rx refill for this two weeks ago. None available because apparently somebody is hoarding it. I found it OTC at the local supermarket stuck on a shelf and bought 150 tablets to ride out the shortage.

Here is a link. Essentially Northwell Health in New York is doing a trial to test treatment with Pepcid plus hydroxychloroquine vs just hydroxychloroquine.

The link doesn't mention the mechanism but I did see a short segment about this on NBC news earlier this evening. One of the docs at Northwell mentioned they believe Pepcid may have some antiviral effect vs the virus. Hopefully a doc or somebody else can chime in on the actual mechanism.

Also, again not in the link, but on the report I saw on NBC they also said they are testing using high doses via IV and essentially the OTC pills we take at home wouldn't be effective so don't attempt to self medicate at home.

Saw this thread and searched Amazon. Sold out.

The world is certainly hungry for a cure or resellers are making a pretty penny. We need open markets that use basic supply demand algorithms
