I understand this isn't the flu but I'd be interested to see if there was any difference in severity of symptoms, hospitalization numbers etc for folks infected that had this years flu shot vs no flu shot. Of course I don't know if it's physically impossible for there to be any secondary effects of the flu shot but just curious if this has been thought of. I guess it probably has

Good theory, but I got the flu shot one year . . . And still ended up getting the flu that same year.

How severe was your flu that year? Do you think getting the shot helped you cope with it better?

Just anecdotal, last year's flu shot missed the mark for a lot of people in my office. There was a bad flu bug that went around last fall that took out a lot of people who did get the flu shot

The flu shot for 2019-2020 flu season didn't work well at all. I know many people who had both Flu A and Flu B at different times.

My son got the flu shot last fall and ended up getting Flu A in February. But I definitely feel like it helped him handle it better. He was almost over it by the time we took him in and got it tested.

So I have not had a flu shot in 20 years, however I have not had the flu in 30 years. So I just wonder how genetics come into the equation?
Easy come, Easy go

I bet you had it a few times and it just didn't feel like much to you.

I'm not sure why anyone would think that a flu vaccine would have an effect on a coronavirus. Are they asking the same thing about measles vaccines? Shingles vaccines? Rabies vaccines? ...

I usually always get the flu shot in mid October, in 2019 in early October prior to getting the shot, I got very sick, didn't go to the doc for several days, wife finally made me go, tested positive for both that season's A and B strains at the same time. It was not fun. My temp was above 102 for almost 4 days, Tylenol had no effect.
I also had the flu in the spring of 2019 after having the flu shot the previous year as well. It was bad, but not as bad as getting 2 strains at the same time without the shot. Moral of the story, always get the flu shot and get it early. Yes, you can still get the flu with the shot, some years the vaccine it better than others and there are multiple strains. Get in regardless. I'm not sure what the odds of catching 3 flu strains in calendar year are, but I did it and don't want to do that ever again.

Same for me. I can't even remember the last time I had a fever. More than 20 years at least. That is including the entire lifetime of my kids. Lucky? Or something else? Dunno.
