These studies say they don't harm, but aren't they also looking into the fact that these drugs may actually help? In other words using them to treat COVID if the patient isn't already on them?

University of Minnesota has been running tests to see if Losartan might help treat those with it I believe.

This study showed decreased mortality in patients on ACE-Is/ARBs with COVID-19.

All I know is my moms meds are a balancing act. Just taking her off them would throw her out off wack.

So knowing that you can leave them on their meds is probably pretty important part of any treatment

Since I am borderline stage 1 prehypertension 129 systolic, would it be a terrible idea to reach out to my pcp and ask about getting on one of these?

Have there been any studies with telmisartan? It's what I take for high blood pressure

I would do anything I could to not be on meds. The best therapeutic to this disease is to be in good health.

129 systolic not worthy of Rx IMO. Diet / lifestyle / exercise etc.

That was included in the 2 NEJM studies. Losartan is only one being looked at as a therapy.

Good night if you know how acei work, this all makes sense. Never made sense to me why they said ACEIs would be harmful.

I actually believe that ARB's will found to be beneficial. It helps balance the excess angiotensin II and convert to angiotensin 1-7 which causes vasodilation and helps decrease oxidative stress in the endothelial cells.

I will actually be shocked if ARB's are not beneficial.
