Hit like a hammer Wednesday evening with nausea, slight headache, and of all things, face swelling like an allergic reaction. She took Benedryl thinking allergy, and went to bed.

Thursday - swelling gone, still slight headache and nausea. Taught on line classes and went to the local ER clinic and had 102 fever. Still no body aches, or congestion, very slight sore throat. They tested her for strep (meg), Flu A/B, and WuFlu. They didn't think it fit WuFlu, but weren't 100%. Results in 3-5 days.

Friday - still fever, slight nausea, slight headache. No congestion or cough.

Saturday - almost normal, just fatigued.

Sunday - feels fine, diarrhea hits.

Certainly doesn't fit WuFlu. I'm fine - had my shot early in the year. Pretty much staying away from everybody until that test comes in.

Interesting , you don't hear much about people getting the "old school" flu here lately, I would assume because everyone is at home alot more, etc. Did she venture out, get it at the store or something?

Went to a big "Teachers ride around town with signs in support of the students" rally in Alice...............5 days before getting sick. Rode with some other teachers in their car once there. Other than that, she's been nowhere I haven't.

Has she let the other people in the car know that she is sick and that they can isolate from their family until she and/or they get the results back?

She's talked with all of them. Does that sound like WuFlu to,you?

with the number of asymptomatic cases, it would be my first guess.

Not a doctor but diarrhea, fever, nausea are some of the symptoms of covid-19.

I just know if I were in a car with someone for an hour or 2 and they were sick enough to get tested, I'd want to isolate from my family until they got their results back. A few days of inconvenience to protect the vulnerable people in my house hold.

Literally any viral type symptoms could be Covid-19. She should absolutely assume she has it until definitively proven otherwise.

I personally haven't seen a single positive flu in almost 2 months. That doesn't mean it can't be the flu though. Last year we were getting positive flus all the way through the summer.

Covid deaths through Monday 1,100 since it started

Flu will prob kill you before Covid does !

That's not really a fair comparison.

That's 7,377 over the last 7 months, 2 days just to be clear.

Covid19 has killed 1,153 in 1 month, 25 days while the state has been in lockdown.

That's very true.

I wonder how far the flu would get if we made a major effort to limit it's spread.

I'd like to see flu deaths during the time period covid deaths were being tracked this year and compare them to the flu deaths during that same time period for the years before.

Same. I did some very quick/lazy searching for this data and couldn't really find what I needed. The CDC provisional data page kind of has is, but the fine print shows overlap between flu/pneumonia/covid so I didn't know how to really use that data.

And that's exactly how the next round of lockdowns will start.
