Wow! They just reported another 734 cases today in Potter/Randall County. With several of the area meat-packing plants having outbreaks, they brought state/federal resources in to provide additional testing and support, so this is partly not surprising to see a greater rise than a typical day, but still quite a large jump.

isolate and treat those in Amarillo. Keep a close watch on the area....However, don't shut down Lubbock because Amarillo had a spike in cases.

Agreed shut down Lubbock, but not because of COVID in Amarillo.

Yes it's these cluster outbreaks that are driving cases now. Our ICU down to 3 covids. Then. A near SNF has a bad outbreak. Now we are at 14. All of our admits institutionalized elderly.

It's those rare dogs spreading it. I just know it!

May 15th was the highest number of cases we have had in TX yet.

Take it to the Politics board. You'll be welcome there.

I have family there. It is because they are going in and testing at all of the care facilities and packing plants (and some other places) whether they are symptomatic or not. This includes surrounding areas all over the panhandle, Cactus, Dumas, etc.The vast majority of these people are asymptomatic. These higher numbers are a good thing as it shows that this is not as lethal as previously thought. The denominator is adjusting and will continue to do so.

And likely the highest number of tests given. Now, about those hospitalizations and deaths...... That's all that really matters.

That's very interesting.

Situations like this and jails are wild to me.

No, it seems the testing also really matters.

No, it seems the testing also really matters.
Which, unfortunately, just seems to cause unnecessary panic and calls for more economic oppression by many. Death rate is sub 1%.

Huh, it's like Amarillo tested more people recently compared to the last several weeks.

Am I allowed to inquire as to the rate of hospitalizations?

The hospital status in Amarillo thus far has remained completely stable with adequate reserve

It's almost as if, when asymptomatic and paucisymptomatic cases are included in the denominator, the actual hospitalization rate is quite small.

Astronomically more testing leads to higher case turnout? Who would have thought?

Meanwhile deaths are plummeting per case. Good news all around. Let's get back to work.

Good job by Abbott IMO. This is how a pandemic should be controlled- Aggressive testing and isolation in hotspots not extended global shutdowns. As long as there is hospital capacity keep on truckin.
