Curious what everyone is doing to either
1. prepare for eventually getting the Covid
2. avoid getting the covid

Curious specifically on vitamin regiments.
Also, how you've changed your diet/exercise plans.

My mother is 66, obese, high blood pressure, asthma.

I've been delivering her food I pick up from H-E-B curbside and visiting her by staying outside and keeping a good distance away. This isn't sustainable. Wondering what I can do to help her get stronger in case she does get it. Obvious diet changes,...

Anyone have any good exercise options for a elderly woman with bad knees?

Wife is also pregnant. I'm concerned for her and our baby's development. Personally, 39, former smoker, borderline obese (230# at 6', 27% body fat)

We've been self isolating as much as possible. Exercising at home, but not as hard or as much as I need to. Diet has been crap, we haven't eaten out in 2 months, not even take out, but we've just eaten frozen and processed crap.

I've coming to the conclusion, the only way out of this I can rely on is to make myself and my loved ones as healthy and as strong as possible.

So obvious is obvious, diet and exercise, but vitamin regiments, type of exercise that is best? What are you doing?

I've prepared myself by not being over 65 years old with no major health conditions. I think it's statistically a bullet proof plan.

Early on I admit I was taking vitamin C and elderberry, and bought some zinc lozenges just in case. Now that more information has come to light I've stopped that. I probably get plenty of vitamin C from margaritas anyway. I go to work, out to eat, and on Friday I'll be going to my gym again. I wash my hands when I get home.

If that jerkoff Fauci would just tell America if you are under 70 just dont be fat and unhealthy and if you are fat and unhealthy now is a good time to stop being fat and unhealthy I think that would do the most good.

My source is me because I'm fat and unhealthy and I'm taking this time to do the things that my fat unhealthy and lazy ass wouldnt do before covid

Nothing for me. I'm 35 and not fat with no health issues. I'm more likely to be struck by lightning than die by covid

Fauci should be replaced by someone who understands statistics and isn't a melodramatic *****.

I wouldn't blame the media on people acting stupid. Everyone knows the real reason.

I remember my mom calling me and asking what we are doing about the meat shortage. I said we just got back from our regular visit to HEB and there was plenty of meat. But she heard on the "news" that there was about to be a meat shortage.

Sure enough, the media went with that narrative and guess what?

Unfortunately, the media still controls a vast amount of what the citizens of this country do. Not nearly as bad as the past, but they still are a major influencer.

My wife is also pregnant, due in 9 weeks. We've been a little extra cautious but even her OBGYN hasn't expressed much concern about it

Nothing. I'm 41, in good shape, not overweight, blood pressure and cholesterol levels are good. If I get really sick, then it's really just bad luck or some genetic thing I can't control. I also don't believe that popping some vitamins is going to magically push the virus away if I do get it.

Take a close look at your BMI and body fat percentage before labeling yourself "not fat" and thus not at risk. The American body image tends to skew towards overweight as acceptable
Ie. technically 6' 190lbs is an overweight BMI. Obviously BMI isn't end all be all (and frankly kind of sucks, I prefer dexa scans) but carefully consider your overall health before you label yourself "healthy."

This.

Since day 1. And, as always, I was right.

I could drink this virus and not get it, I have an awesome immune system.

Check out doc Reveille's recommendations in the thread pinned at the top. Zinc and an ionophore, for example, has been shown to limit viral replication and help with the severity of covid and even the common cold.

Of course, eating right, exercising, and not smoking will help with this and just about everything else.

Exercising, eating healthy, getting sleep, trying to lower stress, and getting extra Vitamin D by supplementing and getting sun each day. It seems like Vitamin D is an important protective measure so I would definitely add that to your regimen.

When I take care of my health I rarely get colds or the flu. I haven't had the flu since 2015 and I got it really bad because I had run myself into the ground with stress. Don't ignore stress and anxiety!

Washing my hands.

Because let's be honest, I probably was washing my hands the bare minimum before.

Spending lots of time outside in the sun, getting vitamin D and exercising. And drinking alot.

I'm 38 with exercise induced asthma and that's it. In great shape but smoking more cigars than usual because I have nothing else to do.

I wash my hands and use sanitizer a lot more. And I havent eaten in a Restaurant since the first week of March. Been eating in my truck a lot more and enjoying it.

Havent flown or stayed in a hotel. I probably will at least stay in a hotel at some point in the next month, but I wont fly. After years of traveling for work I only fly once or twice a year anyway.

But I am damn ready to go to a bar!

Dont have any problem with anyone doing anything they want.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Look at the poster Reveille. He is a doctor that posts on here. He lists vitamins that are most helpful in building up your immune system.

He also has a Facebook page where he does nightly updates. The vitamins he recommends are at the bottom of each daily Facebook post- Dr. Louis P. Coates. An Aggie friend down the road from me got my spouse and I reading his nightly Facebook updates.

I also suggest losing some weight. It's best to have a BMI below 30. There are BMI calculators online. For your mom, start buying her healthy foods since you are shopping for her.

As for my family, we started following the Vitamin recommendations that Reveille posted and keep up with any additions that he's added to his original list. We have continued eating healthy and exercising. We wash hands/use sanitizer when needed. We wear masks at the grocery store. Do curbside pick-up for dinner about once or twice a month. Maybe less. We weren't big on eating out or picking up fast food before Covid-19 and that hasn't changed. We exercise outdoors- jog, walk. And we use treadmill, elliptical, weights that we have at home.

We have friends who have had serious cases of Covid-19, relatives of my best friend who have had Covid, and co-workers who have had sick relatives and a relative that has died. So, we do take Covid-19 seriously. It hits home more for us because we have people we care about that have had a really tough time with Covid. And they were a very healthy couple.
