Daughter's gym has been opened since May 18. Someone (kid, coach, cleaning crew, parent) they won't say tested positive and now gym is shut down again indefinitely. Our kid has been going a lot since opening- great for activity and seeing her friends. Not sure what the answer is - if they made an announcement but didn't shut down and just traced who it was and what day - we'd still send our kid there. The Karens are out in full force saying "see we knew it - too early"

Businesses need disinfecting protocols. This stuff is going to happen. Been happening at my work since Mar-Apr. Close down the area, disinfect everything and ask anyone who was in contact with the person to stay at home until they can get tested. That's going to be reality for awhile as things reopen.

Get used to it. Businesses will follow CYA protocol to limit liability in this lawsuit happy society. 'Merica

There are procedures that the state says have to be followed. They will probably reopen when the state mandated policy allows.

You know those things at the park with all the swings and stuff for kids to climb on? Well, it's hot outside, so they build them inside nowadays.

Cheer, gymnastics, tumbling.

This is interesting and i would assume a company policy for the facility, not a state mandated thing, but I could be wrong. I have not seen any protocols for our gym listing what we should do if a member informs us they tested positive for Covid. I honestly don't want them to tell us as the odds are still so damn low it could spread to us and it won't live on surfaces for very long at all the CDC now says, as compared to before when we didn't know. So even bleaching the place would be pointless. Granted, a cheer and gymnastics center is different than a weight lifting gym. So don't know if that is different.

But be prepared for overreaction as that seems to be the main protocol for now and maybe that is the right thing, don't know.

So you are against closing for a number of days to clean and do their best to participating in stopping the spread through the facility? Seems a small inconvenience everyone ought to support.

My building had an asymptomatic person test positive last week. His team is self-quarantining for 14 days starting last wednesday. They closed the building on Thursday to spray the disinfectant fogger stuff.

Everyone except those who came in close contact with him are back in the office today. My office is way in the back of the building and I haven't seen anyone from that team in person for 3 months...

Edit to add....the asymptomatic person actually got tested before Memorial Day but only got his results back last week. I think he did the test because someone in his extended family tested positive...I guess he should have stayed home from 5/21-6/3 but man...if you have no symptoms and can't get your results, what are you supposed to do?

Since the beginning, pretty much every protocol or forecast has been changed (or flat out wrong). One exception, the 14 days. I question the need for this length. I wonder what other communicable diseases similar to this have 14 days. Did SARS or other similar viruses have this?

The science says that it doesn't live on surfaces for any significant period, so closing to disinfect is a complete waste of time and money. Why should people be forced to waste time and money on things that are pointless?

There was a person diagnosed with COVID-19 at my daughter's gymnastics gym. They closed for the weekend and disinfected the building. We pulled our daughter out of the class.

The reason for the length of quarantine is that we've observed virus often takes from a few to several days to show signs of being in your system. This seems to be a bit unusual thus the longer than usual quarantine.

I don't recall other viruses having long quarantines like this, but I also don't think they had the same delayed quality that Covid does.

You are supposed to stay home. Seems if he had self quarantined as would be the recommendation everyone else would not be inconvenienced. This is a team sport, we all must do our part to move through this with the least amount of inconvenience to others.

I agree....more is coming out and it appears that after Memorial Day, he told his supervisor that he went and got tested but no results and no symptoms. He was told to come to work.

His supervisor is one of the ones now on self-quarantine but it will be interesting to see what happens to him when they all come back.
