What we really need for intelligently evaluating the situation

Currently, there are at least a couple of web sites that show how many people are infected or have been infected with covid-19.

I live near three hot spots. The worst shows about one in twenty people have it or have had it.

What would be far more useful would be to know how many active cases there are in each county.

In Texas County, Oklahoma, while it may be true that approximately one in twenty people have it or have had it, it could be the case that only one in a hundred people have active cases, but I haven't found any place that shows active cases.

Well, there is one, but it is behind on total cases and it lists nearly all cases as active. In my county, for example, it shows no recoveries at all. So that one is pretty useless.

The John Hopkins University covid-19 dashboard site does not show active cases by county. At least, I haven't found them yet if it does and I have looked. They do show active cases by state but that isn't all that helpful.

Does anyone know of a site that accurately shows active cases?

I think you've answered your own question.

Each county is an independent reporting entity. Some report recovered cases and some don't.

My local county (Hidalgo) does and the trend is very much up lately.

The Texas Dashboard has an active cases tab.

My release from isolation was from the state, not the county. I didn't ask the county at all. I never even told the county that I have recovered.

Without state or even national testing and reporting standards you are going to get a hodgepodge of testing reporting standards that reflect the politics of the area more than the reality of the area.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that one.

It tells me to still stay out of Moore County.

Someone at my oldest brother's funeral told me that he had been in Sunray the other day visiting with a local landowner and was told to avoid Dumas. He was told that everyone in Sunray was going to Borger in Hutchinson County for the time being.

Active cases are published. Where someone tests positive and isn't dead or in the hospital in 18 days from taking the test they remove them. I think they started at 14 days initially but stretched it out a bit maybe in April.
