Pretty interesting . . . .the Texas Athletic Department just said that an additional 13 players have tested positive in addition to two players already in quarantine. They said another 4 exhibited antibodies.

So say 19 have had it and none knew, . . an assumption given how little detail is released.

I think the limit for schollies plus walkons is 105. So that would be 18% of the team carrying the illness.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

although borderline unethical or certainly not PC...the best thing would be to have a giant team party right now to have all 105 exposed so they can get over it soon.

Totally agree, otherwise different starters will miss weeks of the season at a time. This season is going to be crazy.

I think as we start doing more testing of people regardless of symptomatic or not, you're going to see this type of spike. As colleges and high schools and others start getting back to normal and doing this type of testing, you'll see some scary numbers I think. They wont represent a dangerous increase in the cases I don't think, just visibility into what's actually going on.

From a football perspective, Bruce Arians made a comment that he needed a 4th qb on the roster that would not even be around the team. Since the starter and all the backups are in the same meetings, you could see a team having all their qb's get sick at once.

Orrr...... and just stay with me...... let everyone live normal lives and if they are afraid of catching it because of age and comorbidities then just stay home. When they play a football game the only other people to infect are other players and coaches. Coaches if too old should just wear a mask or find the booth. Players shouldn't really care if they get it or not but if they do care then don't play.

To be fair, their positive rates are going to run higher as long as Tom Herman still likes kissing his players.

Just heard this morning that 34 teams have already reported cases during voluntary workouts. Read an article that 8 SEC schools reported cases.

yup.

It's not like they are going to be able to avoid it come the fall. And right now is the time to get it because it's summer. I'm going to bet money that the warm summer air is weakening the virus.

On top of that, You definitely want the guys to get it before the health care system gets bombarded. Lets say someone does get really sick... the healthcare system has the capacity to take them on.

When games start opening up in the fall that may not be the same story.

Get it, get over it. If you can't get over it on your own, you want to be able to get into the hospital while there is still sufficient meds and life saving treatments.

If, as some reports have stated, there can be long-term complications, I don't think this is a good idea.

Given the cruise ship experience and some other expert opinions I've seen suggesting that close to 80% of the population may have some type of natural immunity or defense to covid, it could be that the virus has done about all the damage it's going to do to the sips. Just a thought from an uneducated observer.
