The coronavirus was present in Milan and Turin's sewage systems as early as December, two months before the first Covid-19 cases were detected in Italy, a new study shows.

"Traces of SARS-Cov-2 have been found in samples of waste water taken in Milan and Turin on Dec. 18 and in Bologna on Jan. 29," said Giuseppina La Rosa, who led the research for a coming study from the country's ISS National Health Institute. "More traces were detected in other test samples through January and February."

If it was detected on December 18th, that means there was more than just a few people in those jurisdictions with the virus. Which means the timeline claimed by the Chinese becomes more difficult to reconcile.

Wouldn't surprise me. Italy has a large population of Chinese national workers that travel back and forth from China to Italy often.

We have the CCP and its deliberate lies, delays, denials and obstructions to thank for letting a local epidemic escape and become a global pandemic, killing hundreds of thousands and unhinging the global economy.

I'm still really curious as to why hospitals suddenly became inundated all of the sudden in February and March. Seems like if this were spreading that early the surge would have happened sooner.

Has to start hitting pockets of the right population.

It becomes really difficult to differentiate a disease like COVID from influenza or pneumonia if one doesn't see a swell of patients, which in this instance would likely come from a care home or similar cluster. And that's even more difficult when one doesn't even know to be on the lookout for it, as would be the case pretty much everywhere in December and January.

We know there was undetected community spread early this year in Santa Clara, California, but it was never noticed. The only reason why Seattle found it is because of the Seattle Flu Study and it getting loose in a nursing home.

Spot on. I also think it indicates that there is a substantial percentage of the population that has some form of general immunity to it just like other common cold viruses.

Do you know of any studies currently testing for cross immunity?

No, but based on general population genetics it would be natural that even a "novel" disease would have run into some form of immunity in a large population.

Gotcha, I've always assumed a large portion of the population has some sort of immunity to it.Just based off how it is spreading.
