When restaurants & churches are listed as being "high risk" places, I didn't know if that assessment is based on the assumption that they are operating at pre-covid occupancy. Are they still considered high risk if tables/seats are spaced adequate distances apart. I know that outdoor settings are always best, but if a restaurant has done a good job of spacing tables apart and isn't very crowded, is the risk mitigated sufficiently?

My non-expert opinion is these would still be high risk even with mitigation strategies because of indoor spaces and airborne transmission. In a restaurant, you are probably not wearing a mask when eating. In a church, you may wear a mask during the service, but how compliant are the worshipers and will they maintain the recommended 6 feet of social distance throughout?

I have not looked to see if this study has been peer-reviewed, but it is an interesting read. Although I am sure many posters can find multiple studies that contradict this one.

if you are near someone smoking and you can smell the smoke, then the exact situation applies to covid, pretty much.

I wonder this as well. I go to church where everyone is careful to spread out. I am probably at least 10-12 feet from others.

My church is still remote except limited reservations and they keep you spaced and require a mask...I haven't been so I dont know if they enforce it all.

My parent's church has put together a pretty good plan. But they average age of the congregation is probably 50. So attendance is low but they are definitely enforcing masks and distancing. On a side note, their pastor did drive by's on easter with his mariachi band.

The church my cousin preachs at is doing drive in services.

The church in Missouri that my extended family attends is just like it was pre-virus. No masks, no distancing

Mmm, I don't think this is accurate. Droplet spread isn't the same as smoke, surely?
