Texas should be this transparent. If the hospitals are mad that they are now locked down from doing elective procedures, they should release granular stats like this in order to tamp down the hysteria.

What behavior is it driving? Teenagers, go ahead and go out - it's not that bad for you? BTW, the more teenagers who have it the more it will spread? I definitely want my parents isolated, I know that. I don't know if I care to have my kids out and about??

For one, it shows that spreading through the low risk young is exactly that, low risk. And all the focus should be on isolating the high risk.

I believe outdoor gatherings up to 500 people were allowed by Texas up until a couple days ago. So they didn't violate any governance.

Also, young people may get sick but aren't at risk of dying from this disease, at least not to a statistical extent that would govern personal choices. It's probably expecting a bit much to think all these individuals, while feelings safe to attend this party, also wore masks in public areas and avoided close or indoors visits with older relatives, but we also don't know they DIDN'T do that.

So I struggle to call them idiots.

Agforlife, I report all of this information to multiple govt. entities, all with a different form, definitions, and frequency schedule. The lack of transparency in the information is due to the State. They are the ones who have the data for all of the hospitals.

Man it is so hard to discredit things these days if they go against a particular narrative. That is on both sides of the issue. There is some weird kind of confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance that has displaced rational thought.

Not idiots as there was very little personal risk in attending. Selfish entitled jerks because they're putting anyone they come into contact with after the party at risk of coronavirus and some of them will sadly probably die.

Let's just say 350,000,000 Americans may have been exposed. They all weren't but they may have been.

Many parents were there. And endorsed this. And enabled this.

There are lots of pissed off people in Lakeway area about this. And Lakeway voted 71 percent for Trump. It's a very conservative area.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's a good idea. Ditto with the UT kids who went to Cancun.

Agree to disagree. But this was an unforced error IMO. And a lot of my friends who are more right leaning than I am feel the same way.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in the Houston area and do not follow KXAN. Houston had little in terms of news coverage surrounding this and it was extremely infuriating. Glad they covered this but to say that no COVID cases were linked to protests is foolish. No one knows for certain and not many people will admit it if they were to test positive.
