Starting July 3rd to the 11th no cars or golf carts on the beach.
I assume far fewer people will go to the beach if they have to park and walk more than 50 yards to water. I've been to the beach, I've seen the crowd.murphyag said:
What is the reasoning? To keep more of the day visitors off the beach?

Port A beaches were packed back the first few days of May. No spike or issues documented. Why the worry now? I agree this makes no sense.
If they close PAdre Island National Seashore, I'm going to be upset.

We're going down tomorrow morning and staying in our neighbors' townhouse. Our plan is to walk on the beach early/late in the day, but spend most of our time at the townhouse relaxing on the big deck where we can be outside with the ocean breeze but not in a big crowd. I'm just looking forward to getting out of Houston.
yeah it always has been - im not worried about it. were bringing everything we need foodwise so we dont have to battle the IGA daily. once the access opens tuesday ill just thrown my truck on the sand and drive way down til things spread out with all of our gearCowtownAg06 said:
We were at CS the first week in June. Pools were not crowded at all. They had capacity limits on them but no one was counting. Peak of the day we might have been close to 50 people at the big one with the bar, but it was really easy to spread out.
That doesn't appear to be the case. First, no beaches are "closed" but Nueces county public beaches do have curfews and vehicle restrictions. PINS isn't closed based on what i've looked at, but if they did close for the same dates Nueces county is restricting access it wouldn't impact my trip later in July - if I'm being selfish.SharkinAg said:Complete Idiot said:

Well you should be upset, they just did.

Cars are allowed starting Tuesday the 7th
We're headed to cinnamon shore Friday and planned on avoiding beach til next week anyway - now I'm sure all the heehaws will just jam up the pools instead
Oh crap, they have since posted that PINS will in fact be CLOSED, not limited access like the Nueces County Beaches, for the same time frame. It's July 1st and they decide to close from July 2nd to July 7th. That really, really stinks for people who have made plans and probably financial commitments to visiting this weekend and it being too late to cancel if you have reservations for lodging. I am just guessing here, but I bet the National Parks unit did NOT want to close, and didn't feel the need too, but have had their hands forced by Nueces County. I don't think even in a literal sense (I don't think the county can force the National Park unit to close?), but with the knowledge that all other beaches won't allow cars then PINS would be overrun and trashed.Complete Idiot said:That doesn't appear to be the case. As far as vehicles, I assume they can barricade the access points. Are you referring to the curfews?SoupNazi2001 said:
They don't have the manpower to enforce these restrictions. I predict many people won't listen.

They mad it's too restrictive or not enough?
