Brother in law tested positive for covid swab Saturday night 6/27 and believe he contracted it 6/20.

Currently undergoing chemo/immuno therapy at MD Anderson for multiple myloma (light chain). He wasnt symptomatic at first but developed a pretty bad cough yesterday with slight fever and general malaise. Today oxygen was 88-90 and dipped to 86 at one point and having trouble getting a deep breath. My sister is driving him to MD Anderson as they wont continue treatment but if he presented issues with covid they want to treat him @MDA directly.

Clearly we are going to listen to the doctors at MDA but i was hoping any doctors possibly chime in if there is anything we can pass along to them that might be of use...lots of texags ER and ICU doctors that have been on the front lines of this for months and while I dont want to step on anyone toes I think everyone's ultimate goal is to get the patient the best care possible.

*If anyone does have specific things they want to make sure MDA checks for how do we diplomatically go about explaining this to them without telling them his crazy idiot brother in law is on a Texas A&M football website and is telling them how to do their job?

I'm not a Dr, but I believe MDA would be at the top of my list if I had to be treated for anything.

Admitted to MD yesterday. Cannula on lowest setting pulled oxygen up to 98.

results this morning on CT scan showed positive for Moderate pneumonia but they had to increase oxygen last night.

They want to start him on Remdesivir

Any input from docs here on treatment paths?

Trust his doctors is the only advice I can give. They have eyes on him and MDA is pretty top notch. They're going to have access to just about anything he'll need. Remdesivir is very safe from what I've gathered, and may be of benefit in some patients.
