Possible Exposure

How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
So, I had been working from home since some time in late March and about 2 weeks ago got brought back to the office. Got an email today from HR that 2 of the ladies in the record office where I've been pretty much working out tested positive this week. I've been around them the last 2 weeks, the last two days being Monday and Tuesday.

That said, how long is the current logic on how long to wait from exposure to being tested? Would you go to a rapid test location this week, go somewhere for the regular test that could take 6 days to get results, or wait until Monday to get tested? The latest I was exposed was on Tuesday, so I'm just now at the 3 day out window.

Thanks, let's hope I didn't catch this thing.

I would 100% go to somewhere with the rapid test

probably on Monday

Yeah, someone said $15 for the rapid test..... vs the other for free. Said some people were refusing to go do that one since it isn't covered by workers comp.

If I am at the point where $15 makes or breaks me then Covid isn't really what I need to worry about.

Were they wearing masks?

3-5 days post exposure minimum is the time frame before testing to lower your chances of a false negative is what I've been seeing.

What's the point in being tested? If you feel sick stay home. If you can't go to the bathroom without being out of breath go to ER. I don't understand this testing orgy at all.

I agree. No need to get tested.

To the OP- if you were keeping your distance from her and washing your hands and not touching your face you could be ok. I was around someone who I knew had COVID but I wasn't worried since I kept my distance from her

I have been exposed 3 times now. Each time I stay home. Never been tested.

If I don't get tested, it's 14 days at home. A negative test, can go back in.

So yeah, maybe just not get a test and enjoy my 14 days at home.

That's not what the CDC says now

Early positive detection seems to be improving outcomes

I would get tested

Well, talked to HR and I'm quarantined at home for 14 days.

The mind numbing thing about this is I was working at home since late March or early April tele-commuting due to high risk medical factors. The city in their infinite wisdom brought the 3 of us who were doing that back into the office right as things were ramping up numbers wise.

I was in the office for an entire 2 weeks before I got exposed to 2 people who have tested positive. And I was doing exactly the same thing in the building as I was at home, but not able to do it near as productively because kept getting interrupted with dumb stuff.

So now, I'm right back to tele-commuting at home AND sweating out having been exposed to 2 people in a relatively small office.

Good times.

I've been told 5 days post exposure is when to get tested.

How about to let people you've been around know they've been exposed? Perhaps they choose to stay away from older or sick family? It's not just about you.....

Yea I wouldnt get tested either. **** that. Testing positive can hurt your business more than anything else. I have been tested, negative, because I got sick. But I have been exposed a couple of times as recently as this week and I am not going to test unless I get sick. We did cancel our 4th of July plans because we know we are a risk and there are old folks there. But I am not getting tested. You have to draw the lien somewhere.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

I work for a City Police Dept. We've had at least 3 people test positive now. I'm not sure where we getting tested is going to "hurt our business" at the moment.

The brilliant thing is they had 3 of us working from home due to risk factors (most all of the Detectives, etc had been doing it anyway) since late March or early April. They decided to bring all 3 of us back into the building to do the exact same thing we had been doing. Now all 3 of us got exposed to 2 ladies who just tested positive who we had been working in an office with for these 2 weeks.

So absolutely nothing changed in the job we had been doing other than we did the same job in an office for 2 weeks, got exposed, and are right back quarantined for 14 days doing ........ the exact same job at home again.

Another guy who spent at least a full day in there working with these ladies (who were all pretty much not following Chief's directives on wearing masks when close to each other) talked to his Sgt about it and was told "Just come on in to work unless you start feeling sick". It's almost like they're trying to get an entire shift to come down with this thing at one time. That'll be fun for the City.

So, consider yourself pretty damn lucky you don't work for the "government". 4 more years and I'm out, for a multitude of other obvious reasons other than just this.

BTW, I only found out that I was exposed because the PD offered testing on site to anyone, regardless of being symptomatic or not.

Several of the people who were working in the office area I was went back to get tested for grins and 2 of them popped positive. Both asymptomatic as far as I know.

So now we're all quarantined. So there's something to be said for testing. Hopefully I didn't catch it from them.

I'd say quarantine yourself for 4-5 days after known exposure then get tested.
