So is it people not caring anymore, the darker skin of having more people of Cuban decent, or something else?
San Diego just got another 3 weeks as well
We own some vacation property in the FL Keys. Our property manager works out of both Miami and Islamorada. He said people in Miami were acting stupid when places opened back up. No social distancing, not wanting to wear masks at indoor businesses, etc. A big issue we have had in the Keys is a certain crowd of tourists not wanting to comply with wearing masks and social distancing. Being purposely rude to restaurant workers and others in hospitality industry who remind them of mask rules. Just being total asshats.
I suspect that the cases in Walton County are lower because a good portion of tourists who vacation there drive their own vehicles there instead of flying/renting a car. Miami and surrounding areas have the bulk of their tourists arriving by airplane. Same with beach towns in SW FL that are served by the Ft. Myers airport. They depend heavily on tourists arriving by airplane and their numbers are higher than Walton County. Our family also has a place on Sanibel Island, so I've also been paying a lot of attention to Lee County and Coliier County Covid case numbers.
