Anyone aware of any studies going on that I may be able to volunteer for? I'd love to find something that follows participants to study the long term affects of COVID.

I had a pretty mild case but based on my current running ability and lack of endurance I'd be curious to see just how damaged I might be.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=Covid&term=&cntry=&state=&city=&dist=

Granted, it's not the most user friendly website

Trouble breathing or just lack of energy? Just curious.

Thank you! I don't see anything that would "fit" but I will keep looking.

My energy level is definitely getting better.

My heart rate gets high easily and I feel like I just have no endurance while working out. Pre-covid I ran a sub 7:30 mile - 8 mph average. Granted, it was only one mile BUT NOW? I may be able to run a 12 minute mile. I'm not even sure because my heart rate gets so high so easily and I have to recover before I can continue.

Does that make sense? I'm a bit emotional and frustrated right now. My workout this morning was discouraging.

How long ago did you have it/recover? A sinus infection usually sets me back for a week or so afterwards

Began symptoms on 6/12 and tested positive 6/15. I realize it hasn't been much time but I had a very mild case in my opinion.

No fever, burning nose, fatigue and some shortness of breathe and exhaustion.

There was another poster on this board who was a triathlete who complained of the same issues, but over time his endurance returned.

Here is the thread where he talked about his slow returning endurance after the virus cleared his system:

I can't seem to find his follow up where he said if things got back to normal.

When I signed up for a test at CVS in Austin there was an option if I was interested in a "trial medication" or something of that nature (I did not select it), might want to check there.....

I have had the flu a couple times over the last few years. It takes me a month just to get back to where I was before cardio wise. That's not counting anything strength training related. I am 43 and it get harder with age.

Outside of sinus infections, I haven't gotten sick in 23 years, but this tracks with other athletic (military) people in know that get the flu. I don't see why this would be different

Well don't try to come back to quickly. Looks like your body needs more time to heal and clean up your system. Let us know when you are better. It's really hot these days so stay hydrated for sure. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting. I had something similar happen. In April, I was running about 12-16 miles a week (5k avg short run x3 a week and up to 10k long run on the weekends). I ran a half marathon in January @ about a 9 minute mile and pretty consistently ran to keep my endurance up during "quarantine", but in mid-late may, I started noticing that I couldnt run more than about a mile without having to stop and walk for about 30 seconds to a minute. I had to stop and start about 3-5 times just to finish my 5k.

I was pretty discouraged... it basically made it feel like I started all over with couch to 5k, but I chalked it up to the rising heat and humidity, but even when I ran slower than average pace, I still felt like I couldnt catch my breath. I took a week off and tried again...this time I was able to get about a mile and a half...a few days later, 2 miles...and after about 6 weeks of really ****ty and discouraging workouts, I am now able to run 4 miles without stopping again ( albeit slow because at 5am this morning it was 80 with 90% humidity).

I always thought in the back of the head, maybe I had caught COVID 19, but I had literally zero other symptoms...only what I could say "shortness of breath" only during moderate to intense cardiovascular exercise. From what i have been reading from others experiences, "shortness of breath" would be something like walking up the stairs would make you feel winded. I carry my kids up and down the stairs all the time with no issue.

I monitored my SpO2 using my smart phone and while I did get a few readings in the low 90s, i read something saying that using your phone isnt really a great way to measure it. Never used a medical-grade Pulse oximeter.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

You could get an antibody test and see if maybe those were your particular symptoms of COVID. If we've learned anything in the last 4 months, it's that it can have vastly different symptoms in different people.
