I just heard my friend, who has been wrestling and rolling around on the floor with dudes in a jujitsu gym, learned someone at the gym tested positive. He began having symptoms Monday. He said "Sahara dust was gimving me some breathing issues, headache, runny nose" and he said he got "a finger ***** test on Thursday that cost $80 and he was negative.

I looked and saw there is a new 15-min test and is less invasive, but still requires a nasal swab (just not as deep). Pretty sure he just got an antibody test, which I would assume just because it came up negative, does not rule out a current infection. Am I interpreting this correctly

The person that i got exposed and infected from did the rapid finger poke test. Paid $100 for it, came up negative. They also did the traditional PCR brain tickler. They were positive.

A week later, I was ill and positive via PCR.

Those rapid tests are junk. Labs at the hospitals I work with laugh at those test and make everyone that comes in symptomatic but " negative" cuz of the finger poke test go through the PCR and an in house serology test. They are almost always positive, from what the tel me.

How accurate do you think the antibody test done for blood donations is? I dropped off a pint of O+ last week and got a negative for antibodies when I got the test results for the donation.

Depends on the blood center.

Some are utilizing better test than others, but it is still basically a first generation test and they each have their faults.
