My wife developed a sore throat, congestion, mild cough, and low grade fever. It gave her a hard time sleeping last night, so she wants to take NyQuil tonight. We were curious if there was any reason to avoid NyQuil while we wait for the covid results.

Anyone have any insight.

Has Tylenol to reduce fever and dextromethorphan for cough suppression and an anti histamine.

Just read through the googles that some scientists were saying dex can cause increased viral replication in lab studies. But of course ibuprofen was a big no no in March and now it's not really an issue.

I take some meds and can't take Dex.

When I have a cough, I put a tablespoon of honey in some warm water and swallow it. It works pretty well.

Edit: and for the honey/lemon/bourbon, its not a full glass to get drunk. It's a tablespoon or two of each ingredient and you sip it.

Look up Dr. Coates on fb, he lists supplements to take prior to and if symptoms occur (zinc, vit c, d, & couple others). He's also on this board as Reveille if you search the forum. Cold-eez are cough drops with zinc, sold out in March, might find some now at HEB or CVS. Good luck & hope its just allergies.

Why not? That's what it's for. I think I have promethazine. I don't remember if it had codeine in it. You don't have to be like Terrence Kiel. There are legit uses.
