We should get rid of thermometers. Then we won't have any days over 100 degrees. Will be much more enjoyable outside.

Can hospitals create their own independent database and also send data there? I don't know like the CDC?

I don't really agree with this move. But does anyone actually believe the data we've been getting is useful?

It's inaccurate, inconsistent, and generally a week to months behind.

If there is one thing everyone should be able to agree on from this pandemic, the data has been absolute garbage and it's a joke decisions are being made with it. It's 2020, how we can't have more accurate and real time data is mind boggling.

The CDC is still recording deaths. They just updated their data yesterday. I think it's the hospitalization data that the HHS will now be tracking.

Also - if you do track the covid deaths, it's fairly good news as the numbers are trending down.

Somewhat - the CDC tracks deaths reported with death certificates listing the covid code. Their numbers generally are not 100% until three weeks or so have passed. But, the CDC also gives the % estimated data reported based on the total deaths expected for the week, so it's very easy to get an accurate death rate trend.

Are they? On a national level the last week has gone up. We hit 1000 deaths yesterday and Texas had a high of 154.

Those aren't New York numbers but they aren't trending down

Yes - this is the latest CDC data from yesterday for total covid deaths in the U.S. I know it's hard to believe based on what you hear everyday in the news. The numbers will increase for the last 3 weeks or so as new data comes in, but typically the trend has not changed. Covid deaths in the U.S. are going down.

The deaths just started to go up this past week. That's why the Trump administration removed the data. They know it's getting worse and it's going to get, very, very bad. They're not trying to fix it. They just want to hide it. Most people will recognize this. They will lose trust in what public officials are telling them. They will stop going out or spending money on things other than the essentials. Thsoe who don't recognize it yet will join the others as family members or friends start dying. When things do improve, few will trust it and will continue to hunker down. This move (to hide the data) will not only make the economic effects worse, it will cause it to last much, much longer than it otherwise would have.

Definitely would like more accurate data as well, but this move definitely is a set the narrative type of information control. Prepare for it to become even less accurate.

I have a hard time having any faith in the numbers when they're counting a death as a Covid death for someone that shows up at the hospital with a gunshot wound then dies from that gunshot but the find he had asymptomatic Covid. Bad info in means bad info out!

Bless your heart. Most of us have been there a long time.

From what I have gathered the counties were reporting deaths and the CDC did not like the inconsistency of the methods so they took over, after what happened in Florida and a few other states where there were hundreds of testing centers having 100% positive rates the Trump administration stepped in.

For some reason looking at a test being positive or negative and reporting as such has turned into a giant cluster.

Read the change and put away your tinfoil hats.

This is about hospital data being reported in a timely fashion. The CDC had a manual process that lagged by more than a week.

Keegan beat me to it, the move was not to hide data, it was to improve the flow due to the antiquated CDC system.

So, when's the hospital data coming back? In a week?

Can you provide evidence of them actually doing this?
