I am so tired of links to random twitter people. Many people seem skilled at fitting data to a narrative, but it's never a complete story and I never am given a reason why I should trust some random person running a twitter account as a valued opinion.

Agreed. Both sides of this "argument" keep trying to link us to Twitter. Maybe I'm an "old" but I pretty much automatically look at anything on Twitter as garbage.

Excess deaths from the CDC since February work out to approximately 96k.

(It will end up being more than that since recent weeks are incomplete, but this includes the bulk of COVID, including the March and April disaster in the northeast.)

1466k * (1 - 1/1.07) = 96k.

Note that the last two flu seasons were well below what transpired in 2017-2018. If you subscribe to the "overgrown forests lead to more intense forest fires" view of population mortality, that is significant.

I'd say that's on you to determine.

I would think that we are smart enough to look at the whole body of work than some hand picked set of data.

I am more looking at everyone, rather than just PJ, who posts twitter links like they are fact. You either like them all or don't like any of them.
