What should I do if I think I have it?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Shortness of breath-mild
Cough-present but mild
Woke up with weird sore throat, gone away now
Fell asleep on the toilet this morning
Feeling very lethargic at times but doing ok now.

No fever.

39, 6 foot, 250, prolly 32% body fat. Take blood pressure meds.

My wife is due in 2 months so my anxiety is not helping. I thought the shortness of breath thing could be anxiety related but it's pretty consistent. But it's very mild.

Anything I can do to be proactive? Already had a test, they said 3-10 days for results.

Is this a catch it early thing? I'm in **** shape so I'm concerned despite age.

Start the doctors recommended supplements

ETA: particularly the quecertin and zinc
Cepe - its pronounced "Ceep" and stands for my initials - CP.

I would try to get a pulse oximeter to monitor oxygen saturation. You can buy one at Walgreens, CVS, etc

Check out Reveille's posts on recommended supplements:
Quote:

Quercetin from 250mg up to 1g twice per day Remember this is a Zinc ionophore.
Vitamin D3 Take this for sure if you are deficient and I now recommend taking it as long as your values are not too high.
Sleep greater than 8 hours per night
CoQ10 100-300mg per day: a potent antioxidant that potentially helps balance oxidative stress, increase vasodilation, prevent clot formation and decrease vasoconstriction.
Zinc any amount is probably good but take what you can tolerate without making you feel bad up to 40mg. You do not want to be Zinc deficient as it is how many drugs like HCQ work.
Melatonin 0.1mg to 10mg at night. Take what you can tolerate and what helps you sleep without making you feel drugged or tired in the morning. If you are diabetic watch your sugars.
N-acetylcysteine (NAC) - 600mg twice per day shown to decrease severity of influenza, improve lung functions in COPD, antioxidant properties, potentially helps prevent clotting and with mental disorders. Caution for asthmatics as there is potential for bronchospasm.
Vitamin C 250mg to 500mg twice per day. Effects debatable in oral form but IV did help in China. But is proven to strengthen immune system
Green Tea either drink some or 1 pill per day alternate zinc ionophore if you don't have or don't take Quercetin

I would start taking Quercetin 1g twice per day, zinc at 50mg twice per day, NAC 600mg twice per day and Vitamin D 50,000IU per week. You can also take CoQ10 at 100-200mg per day and vitamin C 1g per day. All of these have potential helpful actions on Covid-19.

VA just called me and said to go to the nearest emergency room. They're not treating covid.

Seems like a cover-your-ass situation. I have one of those finger things and it reads 97, 98,. The breathing stuff is so faint, I'd feel silly going into a hospital right now. And I don't want the exposure if I don't have it. Don't want to expose others if I do.

They didn't entertain the inhaler suggestion. Just kept saying go to the emergency room.

Go to a local testing sight and know for sure. If your local area requires a doc consult, call the VA back and ask them to recommend you for one.

"opting out" to not treat covid. Whew. Our VA seeing them and have 10 in hospital. That is not fair to other hospitals.

I got a test on Tuesday, waiting results. Was told 3-10 days. Haven't been able to find a rapid test place that didn't cost $250. And the $250 ones are unlikely to get approved since I don't have sever symptoms and am not a health care worker.

VA could test me in San Antonio tomorrow with 2 day turnaround I'm in Austin.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know, I'm tired of searching

In fairness, I'm apart of a "Blue team" in a clinic. Audie Murphy is down the road from my clinic and they would be fine sending me to that emergency room if it was closest.

That's just the people I call to talk to my primary care dr.

Yep - as Ive commented on other threads. ICS/LABAs (inhaled steroids/lon acting beta agonist). Same type steroid combined with long acting salmeterol, etc.

Depending on what side of Austin you are on, there is an ER in Killeen doing rapid tests. Pretty sure my buddy paid about$100
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

So 2 weeks ago, my son's 2 college roomies both tested positive and my son tested negative. All the same testing location. University sent my son home to quarantine (aka...infect his family). Over the weekend, he began having some symptoms like a normal sinus infection (cough, congestion, body aches), but since he was already tested negative, we just thought it was a summer cold. 3 days later the testing center called and said they are sending all "rapid tests that are negative" out for additional testing and his came back positive. By that time, my wife and I both had similar symptoms. Our doctor said don't worry testing because even if it came back negative, he would call BS and say we were positive. Their direction was to treat the symptoms and let them know if we got any worse. We took EmergenC, multivitamin containing C,D and Zinc, sat outside in the sun daily, and Mucinex D. We are all pretty much over it now. Never had fever or anything significant. My wife and I are both early 50s. My son had a test this morning b/c he has to be negative to go back to school. Overall, if COVID wasn't a thing right now, we would have just thought we had a normal summer cold. All good. (ps. My niece and pregnant and has tested positive and her symptoms have been exactly the same and her doctor is not worried about the baby at all.)

Perhaps I'm oversensitive to this because I work at a university... but the flip side of this is "you want him to stay on campus and infect thousands of students, faculty, and staff????

Got my rapid test done at our GP's office: Cedar Park Pediatrics and Family Medicine. $25 for a televisit and they scheduled me for a test the next day. Had my drive-by test at 9:30 am and got my results back by 12:15.

Edit to add: they also take patients for testing that they aren't seeing. No idea what the test cost. That wasn't discussed and I'm guessing it was included in my co-pay.

Edit 2: I was negative. Truly negative, I believe. Had some fatigue (looking back, due to poor sleep), headache, and pretty severe sinus issues that were beginning to manifest into earaches for about a period of 5 days. The morning of the test, I woke up and felt fine and felt fine since then.

Good news: got a negative test back today. Not a rapid test, test I took from Tuesday

I'm believing the results because my condition hasn't gotten worse, in fact, it's gotten a little better. I'm starting to think I'm having some kind of acid/esophagus/anxiety problem. That makes sense with my history.

Thanks everyone.

Btw, fatty here had a wake up call.
