this has been discussed on a few threads. Some believe it, some say it's a hoax.

This is the first news story I have seen on it.

Not a hoax. Family friend quit waiting for test and got notified of positive 6 days later.

It's always a "family friend" or "friend of a friend." Never a personal story. Not saying your friend didn't tell you this, but if they did they were parroting something they heard from somewhere else. This has become an urban myth where the story slightly changes at each iteration.

Not one person (to my knowledge) has offered concrete proof of this happening.

This is part of the testing mechanism problem. People are sitting in their cars, sometimes for hours, or standing in line, six feet apart sometimes for hours. You're registered though, you're number 15 in line, and you are Jay Wolfson. If Jay Wolfson says he can't wait any longer and he leaves, it will get number 15 and now get Rebecca Fernandez, who was standing behind him, and she tests positive, and then everyone from then on gets the wrong results. There has to be a better way to do this," explained Dr. Jay Wolfson, Public Health & Medicine Professor for the University of South Florida.
The explanation just sounds like stupid testing procedures and not the invention of positive results. The scarier part is the person who was positive didn't get notified.

As I said before on a locked thread. I registered for a test from cvs and was told I was positive before I took the test.

Me. Not a friend. Not their friend. Me.

Laboratory tubes are not labeled with just a number. It has a barcode and the person's name and date of birth. The person administering the swab verifies the individual's name and date of birth and the tube is labeled at that time. It would be terrible practice to pre-label tubes and not identify the person being tested with at least two identifiers.

What is your deal? My husband is deployed. You already doxxed/used my real name on another board.

That's the actual message I got from them. If you have a problem with my husband take it up with him. Otherwise leave me alone.

That first part doesn't read like a positive test result. It sound like they're telling you to get a test based on your symptoms and they screwed up the email. I'm guessing you know this, but couldn't miss an opportunity to contribute to the conspiracy

I can only go by what they sent me and they clearly said I tested positive before I took a test.

At the beginning it clearly says you need to be tested based on the self-checker. But go ahead, Joe. Spread the conspiracy

If that's the automated email, it's a pretty major **** up and would probably scare a lot of people. Does no one proofread any more?

I know that, seeing as how I got this as a response to a test screening. However, this message said I tested positive before taking a test.

Your defense is "oh well they just screwed up". Is that possible or even probable? Perhaps. But this is what they told me. I didn't make it up and it's not a conspiracy.

You've clearly been misrepresenting the situation to fit your narrative, Joe. It's fake news

It's a big ****-up, but I think it's dishonest to ignore the rest of the email and run around telling people that they told you that you have a positive test before you take it.

Post the results/email/text message.

Would you also agree that it would be dishonest to report that to CDC or other reporting agencies that include it in daily figures?

Yes that would be dishonest. How do you know it was?

I have two kids, a job, a home to take care of, and a husband away for the next 9 months. My symptoms never got worse and I didn't have the time to take it.

I don't....how do you know it wasn't?

We DO know that reporting hasn't been ideal.

This is where I'm at. If the state of Texas sends me official correspondence stating I'm a positive result I'm going to take them at their word.

Agreed but just as dishonest as someone received the same communication interprets is a 'NO' because they have no symptoms. Even worse than spreading conspiracy those people could be spreading disease. Poor communication and inconsistent messages have been a hallmark of our response.
ElephantRider

But in the same email it says otherwise. Why are you just ignoring that part?

Because it doesn't fit your narrative?
ElephantRider

But no one would have interpreted it as a hard no. Allegedly, our friend Joe received this email because they had symptoms and filled out an online questionnaire, so there are symptoms involved. Then, it clearly says you may have Covid and need to be tested.

But I agree about the communication and messaging being an issue with this whole thing.

If I wanted to push some crazy conspiracy I would have posted this for the nuts on the politics board.

I wear masks and I make and donate masks in my spare time. I like doing my part. I don't know if they counted me as a presumed positive or included me in any numbers. I can only share with you what I was told.

That response actually would explain a lot of the confusion and anecdotal stories. It literally says "since you have tested positive," so I could easily see people getting that after not actually getting tested and thinking they were getting preemptively counted. Whether or not they are actually counted in the numbers is a different situation though, to me it's just the result of no one proofing the copy.

Leather - do you honestly think anything you post will change the minds of the people who are calling you out? Sometimes you just need to set the bag of bricks down and not worry so much about what people on an internet message board think. You'll be happier if you do.

Who is the galaxy brain genius that came up with this system?

This isn't a fast food drive thru window or a deli counter...This is critical medical information...why index by place in line instead of first name, last name?

I have no doubt these same geniuses are spending millions of dollars on "contact tracing" on people that werent even sick in the first place.

But yeah, medicare 4 all....such a great idea...leave it up to these mensa members to run our entire healthcare industry.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!
