Those interested in school sponsored sports may be interested in their results.

Excellent. We need leaders to show the way to those too terrified to act.

Baseball, if any sport is the one that best lends itself to playing right now! Good to hear.

My kids have been playing competitive soccer and volleyball all summer and I haven't heard of any cases in their leagues.

My BIL is a select softball coach and they've been playing. But he's had several teams drop out of tournaments because someone tested positive on the team. However, I believe everyone of those cases was traced back to a graduation party or something along those lines and there was no spread among the team.

My younger son has played baseball this summer. There have been some positive cases pop up. Both kids and a couple of coaches. One team had to end the season early due to illness, quarantine, etc.

This is secondhand, but my kid's old soccer club stopped practices for several weeks, maybe all off July, due to several families having positive cases. Apparently is was the parents and some older siblings, very few player's are/were known positives.

I know the belief for some is that either a vaccine or HI is necessary to get sports fully going, but it also could just approving a quicker, more frequent and cheaper way to test at home.

Michael Mina suggests doing a daily test with a 10-minute turnaround that can be done by people at home for about $1/day. If athletes could be tested at home and/or practices/games it would keep kids (parents) from going to events when they are actually contagious. According to podcast below, the hangup at approval is that it isn't as strong at detecting the virus part (scientific term in podcast) as the nasal PCR test, but he says it doesn't matter because A) Most people aren't doing a PCR test at that stage anyway and B) it does pick up the virus when the person is actually contagious.

I'm sure this $1 paper test is somewhere else on this board, but it has hopeful potential for sports, schools and workplaces.

So you are comparing ease of spread in baseball and football or basketball or wrestling?

Come on man, use your brain a little... just a tiny bit. Do you think there might be a little difference in proximity of players between baseball and football? Are you really using this as an argument to open up all sports?

Sorry, can you show me where I'm suggesting to open it up for all sports. I'm just suggesting that there was a full sports season without deaths or major incidents like people were proclaiming would happen when they made this decision and like people are declaring will happen if people play sports..

The NCAA sponsors about 25 sports for men & women. The majority of those sports probably could be played.

Come on man, use your head a little bit. You don't have to close down every sport if they are low risk for transmission type of sports.
If HS players on a HS budget can make it through a baseball & softball season, why can't swimming, rifle, volleyball, tennis, golf, gymnastics, fencing, baseball, softball or whatever make it at the college level?

Yes there are sports with contact or collisions that it might not work with (Football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, wrestling), but it doesn't need to be an all or nothing option with sports.

Absolutely!

Kids should be living a normal life.

Soccer and basketball have been ongoing all summer. I would think they have as much close proximity for extended durations of any of the sports.
