It still very early but this is the second study released by the Mayo Clinic in regards to the use of convalescent plasma in COVID19 treatments.

Relevance: The relationships between reduced mortality and both earlier time to transfusion and higher antibody levels provide signatures of efficacy for convalescent plasma in the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. This information may be informative for the treatment of COVID-19 and design of randomized clinical trials involving convalescent plasma.

It still needs peer review and ALOT more data collection and analysis. Hopefully this continues to be a trend of good news in the treatment. Early intervention and transfusion seems to be key along with other treatment protocols to help mitigate the sick from getting too far gone.

Doctors know it works.

NR article about TMC in Houston

Dr. Reynolds Delgado, a cardiologist at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center who handles "the really bad COVIDs,"

"Remdesivir barely works. It's very weak in its effect, which is unfortunate," Delgado said. "The convalescent plasma definitely works very important. I've personally seen that saved many lives."
"We have not seen a lot of success with plasma, we have done a lot of it. I can't honestly tell you that it has been a 'wow'-type treatment. I know that we are continue to use Remdesivir, even that, it has not been a life-saving medication, let me just put it that way," Porsa added.
But across the board, doctors told National Review that the implementation of steroids such as Dexamethasone were helping Delgado called the treatment a "game-changer."

I am confused, Dr Reynolds said in one sentence it definitely works then 2 sentences later they have not see a lot of success with it. Editing or transcription error?

Soulslave what eliminates people from donating, pre-existing conditions for example? Age? Time since infection?

Donors must be symptom free for 14 days before they are eligible to donate any products. To donate convalescent plasma they must provide us a copy of their positive test (PCR or Antibody) as well.

All donors must meet normal allogeneic donation rules. Here is a link to our current eligibility rules:

Thanks for the link. A lot of my folks are knocked out with that med list.
It mentions something about taking money for sex eliminates a donor, what about accepting fine wine or a fine meal for sex? Is that ok?

Ha.

It is actually just a 3 month deferral from the date of the deed.

Now... If fine wine or a good meal counted, most married men would be in trouble!

Relevant to the OP.

Some local doctors have secured a grant to further research the efficacy.

Pretty cool for them and I look forward to seeing their results.
