Coronavirus is real. And it accelerates the death of people with comorbidities who would have otherwise lived a longer life. Just like HIV/AIDS doesn't directly kill. It weakens your immune system to the point of being susceptible to dying from things like the common cold or pneumonia.

P.S. The majority of Americans have health issues that make them vulnerable to this disease. It's why it's a big deal.
