We attended my daughter's high school football game last night. The district went out of their way to mark certain seats as closed. Everyone was wearing a mask while walking around, but in their seats, their masks were off. The kids were not socially distancing and no one cared. We had plenty of people show up and it was a grand time.

It's time for us to move forward and realize that personal responsibility is at play here. Let the kids be kids. Remind them about hygiene and tell them to wash their hands and be smart about hanging out with others. Let the adults be smart and wash your hands and use a mask. This isn't hard.

I'm ready to move on, as is a large swath of folks in Northwest Austin/Williamson County.

That sounds awesome! Thanks for posting.
Agree we are done with this. Same in Dallas.

Being smart and wearing a mask are not compatible.

I agree with your overall message though. Time to kick the "new normal" to the curb and just go back to normal.

Hey, they should wear a mask because being within 6' of someone will give them COVID, but we have to pick their nose up to their brain to confirm they have it....

Was at the KRAC tonight for Mcneil and experienced the same. Although everyone was wearing masks. Social distance was not there.

I was there too. Interesting differences between neighboring communities. RRISD is still militant about masks. I didn't see a single person without one.

Infrequent browser here. Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks. I dont know who's on what side but anecdotally speaking I think everyone's pretty much picked a side, so this cake is cooked.

I am personally hoping it means more/permanently working from home because that benefits me greatly.

Appreciate the honesty. I think alot of "stay home/wear mask" arguments have an element of hidden "I'd rather not have to go back to the office" to them. The longer this last, the longer many people get to work from home.

I wear a mask when out and in public with errands, shopping, etc. I have family who gets sick easy so I don't want it or to even be a carrier and pass it along. I don't do much else socially so the rest of it I don't care about.

On the work side, I do not trust my employees to take precautions. I've got several who have been tested multiple times bc they take no precautions and keep finding themselves in situations where they're exposed and others in their social circles wind up getting it. I do not want to be put in the position to have to monitor these idiots to make sure they're not sneezing in each other's faces while not wearing masks, etc. Last winter we spread the flu and colds around like crazy. We've already had reductions in staffing, rolling furloughs etc due to revenue loss and are pretty much at max capacity right now...when I have 1 or 2 people out its manageable but if I have to have 4-6 out due to quarantining due to someone in their immediate vicinity popping hot on a covid test it's going to put our ops at major risk.

And that's not even getting into any potential HR issues if someone does contract covid while at work on my office. We don't have the infrastructure to rebuild the office and make sure everyone's 6 feet apart. I'm sure our corporate office doesn't want any lawsuits because Covid Chris spreads it the people around him. We moved mountains in a short time to get everyone set up to work remotely. I can't imagine us doing the reverse and getting everyone under 1 roof again just so we can say everything is "normal".

I assume you were at one of the large school games that started up last weekend.

At the small school level we just finished the sixth week of games if you count scrimmages. Small town people are little different than the city types. We have no masks, no distancing, and stands were pretty well full. By all means be super careful if you want, but if you don't nothing will happen corona wise. We've tried it.

This is pretty much my experience. We've had 2 scrimmages and 5 games so far in a 2A school setting. Traveled to three away venues and had two home games. Didn't matter where we were there was virtually no masks and no one that worried about distance. Our school has had a total of 2 positive case out of teachers and students and just finished 6 weeks of in person learning. At some point there is just too much real life experience to continue believing death is upon us without all the government measures.

I agree. The likelihood of a Tony Tenpenny or Hermann Cain situation are very low.

Let me tell you about my experience. The end of July, my wife and I came down with COVID. We are in our 50s. I have a BMI of 30, even though I look thinner thanks to my running back thighs and lower body, I still am in that sweet spot for COVID complications. We followed Reveille's supplements and we survived. However, we still have lingering effects of fatigue and a nagging random cough, still. The only place we went before we got COVID was a marina restaurant "covered and open air" where no one wore a mask (wait staff or kitchen help). We had a bucket of beer, listened to live music, and ate dinner. Four days later my wife came down with a fever. We both got tested because of my work and we both tested positive. My symptoms came the day before I got the results back. I would have been at work had it not been for my wife. I am lucky no one from my work got COVID from me. I won't go to a place now where the staff is not wearing a mask. I may have antibodies, but I don't want it again, and I am not going to push it.

Being responsible and wearing a mask is key. I'm glad you are on the mend!

I have worn many masks in my career.
I have worn:
M8 A1 gas mask
Fully encapsulated supplied air (DPE suit)
Full face and half face respirators
Full face supplied air, and
PAPRs

The cloth face coverings may not be of the same level of protection as those, but I have seen the science that they minimize the area of influence from individuals.

Just curious, since you recovered have you taken steps to lose weight and reduce your BMI? A BMI of 30 is considered Obese and significantly increases your chances of having more severe complications from COVID as well as increasing your mortality rate in general. You said that you were taking other steps to avoid covid so I wondered if you were doing something that is actually in your own control. I am not being an ass, just interested. People are willing to shut down the economy, close businesses, many for good, to save lives, so I was wondering how many are willing to take responsibility for their own health and do what is necessary to get their bodies ready to fight the next "Covid" because I am sure there will be one.

I think your Covid infection was the result of having a bucket of beer. You should have had two buckets.

J/k, glad you have done as well as you have and are protecting yourself. I would agree with JWAggie that using those running back thighs to exercise more, reduce your BMI while continuing the supplements would be a good approach to regaining your energy and increasing it to a new level. Continued well wishes in your recovery.

BMI is based on height and weight.

I have a 34" waist. Yes, I could lose 30lbs and I am working on that.

Our players have BMIs over 30. Demarvin Leal has a BMI of 35.1, Jeremiah Martin has a BMI of 31.1, Antonio Doyle has a BMI of 31.2. I am very close to Chris Russell with a BMI of 29.1. These are not all obese players.

Don't justify anything.

This whole attack is stupid. I'm so sorry.
