Nope. The virus is not the same as it was in the spring. And we are two weeks past the spiking, where are all the deaths?

And that is two months ago? What will it take to satisfy you?

They have been hiding deaths for six weeks? C'mon man.

And how do you "flatten the curve" with no masks or restrictions?

It was worth the delay to find out dexamethasone works decently

Not talking about NYC.

Please explain how Florida, with zero restrictions for two months, has so few deaths?

Budesonide works okay. But y'all will never admit the virus is not the same.

We have a huge spike in cases but no spike in deaths. What will it take to convince you?

And Shazam, who suggested steroids in March?

is the Florida virus different than the one currently wreaking havoc in the Midwest?

I don't understand the point. The Sunbelt had a lot of advantages getting their wave in the summer. Learned experience being one of them.

NYC unfortunately had bull**** advice from China and Italy's panicked response and not much else. Lots of mistakes were made.

clearly NYC is germane to the discussion since it's in your OP graph

The point is that masks and social distancing have nothing to do with anything. Unless Floridians are magically immune.

No restrictions for eight weeks. No increase in deaths. And I read on this very forum about the spike in deaths we would see after the spike in cases. Over two weeks ago. They were wrong, correct?

NYC had pretty strict mask and social distancing requirements. Why the difference from Florida?

Throw Illinois in there. Way worse than FL with way less people and way more strict.

And nevermind the population density in NY and that even if there are no state wide mandates, people are still modifying their behavior.

you won't get arguments from me about the ineffectiveness of masking, at least when it comes the sort of masks the experts have been saying are acceptably effective

public health has completely f'd up the masking issue

there was no masking at all in March

Fauci was still running his noble lie

and any social distancing was organic, not mandated

the subways were still open and ridership hadn't fallen off a cliff yet

+20% of NYC got infected in two months

If I did not post it on here I know I pm'd and discussed it with other docs on here. Also suggested biological to stop the cytokine storm and transfusions because of the oxygenation problems. Some great docs on here.

And estimated an IFR of .3-.6%. And I am not an epidemiologist.

And I got blasted on here.

With all due respect, positive cases mean zero. The death rates are not going up. Great news!

I agree with you on cases. But, if the government measures worked, Ill would be way better off than FL. That's all this shows.

And they do not work. You can not stop the spread of a respiratory virus. Obviously wearing masks and social distancing mean little or Florida would be worse than Illinois, correct?

My goodness this frustrating.

so it's got a IFR in the 0.5% range and is hyper infectious

is that supposed to make it better?

I don't think masks work very well. I think social distancing certainly helps.

I'll reserve judgement until Florida gets into the same winter conditions Illinois started seeing a month or so ago

personally I'm rooting for the mildest winter ever

Actually the IFR will be lower than that and is inflated from when the virus was more virulent in the spring.

It is not the same virus or we would have a huge death spike now from the recent spike in cases, correct?

I was told on this very forum two weeks ago to expect that death spike. And it did not occur, correct?

Not to my knowledge. All I know is that everybody who is covid positive gets charted as covid cause of death because the hospital gets paid I believe 37k for that diagnosis.

Sure you can. Just need to understand that positive tests mean nothing. And that is a high hurde to get over.
