Wife and I decided to get tests proactively before thanksgiving. Did the rapid test. Mine was negative but hers was positive. minor allergy like symptoms.

Could one of us have a false result? Should we get the PCR test?

Anything else we can do other than just quarantine 14 days?

From everything I've read, her's is far more likely to be correct. I would get the PRC test if I was you.

Might want to pick up some D12 and zinc pills and whatever cold meds you usually use.

I was positive and my wife stayed negative, I isolated in our bedroom and my office. She never got it.

at best you are contract trace #1....quarantine for 14 days...or 10 days depending on which CDC guidelines you want to use.
Please tell me there's a special place in Heaven for Aggie fans! It's like we are living some sort of penance on Earth.

Already cancelled trip to the in-laws. Dr says I should quarantine 10 days from the end of my wife's 10 days. 20 days in the hole for me. Thanks y'all.

I'm in the same boat. Zero symptoms and tested positive on the rapid and pcr test. Don't know anyone that I've been around that's had it.

It's actually supposed to be 24 days. But just in case the reasoning wasn't provided it is as follows:

-Wife is contagious for 10 days from symptom onset (if asymptomatic, assume 10 days from positive test)
-Assuming husband gets it on day 10, then the incubation period is 14 days and he might not develop symptoms for 14 days. If he develops symptoms on day 14, then he would need to isolate for 10 days from the day he develops symptoms
-If husband develops symptoms on day 5 following wife's symptom onset, then his 10 days of contagiousness would start then
-If husband gets a PCR test and tests positive then his 10 days would start from date of positive test (even if asymptomatic)
-If there is no plan on isolating away from the wife, then there is no utility in getting a PCR test unless you develop symptoms and want to confirm you have it
-50% of people develop symptoms within 5 days of exposure, and 98% develop symptoms by day 12.

The 20/24 days may sound crazy, but that is essentially a 98% solution. Doctors aren't going to give you a 50% solution and then get blamed when you kill someone because you thought you were in the clear because the only said 10 days or 14 days.

Also, the rapid antigen test is falsely negative almost 50% of the time.

Plan is to treat my test as a false negative. Act as if it was a positive. We will stay home for the next 10 days then see how we are feeling and make a decision from there.

Neighbor friend tested positive. Wife and kids negative. Shared bedroom with wife until his positive test. Our school allows his kids back 14 days after his positive test. Way less than what some are advising here. I can tell you my kids will be playing with them and I have no issues with it.

10 days from first symptoms. 3 days of 0 symptoms. But also I had kissed and hugged her the day I found out I was positive before I found out I was exposed. She had just flown in from out of town. So we were expecting her to get it but she never did.

The school is assuming their last "close contact" occurred on the date of the positive test, thus the reason they are allowed back 14 days later.
That's the way my employer explained it to me when our daughter tested positive. As long as I we didn't have close contact for ten days after the positive test, I could return to work 14 days after the positive.

I didn't realize people were actually quarantining from their spouses. Learned something new today.

Your scenario is assuming the wife is not isolated from the husband during from the time she tests positive.
