My kids started coming down with symptoms similar to a cold last night. They are normal cold symptoms so far like a cough and runny nose but otherwise they feel fine.

I know we should keep them home for Christmas just in case but I was wondering if we should get them Covid tested. Both are elementary school age.

My 3 year old developed a fever last Friday so I took him in the next morning to get a test. Doesn't hurt anything to get them tested. He said it tickled, but didn't bother him. I got myself tested at the same time bc I have congestion. My insurance pays for the tests so when one of my three kids start displaying any kind of symptoms I just get them tested. I'd rather not quarantine for 14 days if we don't have to.

Ask your pediatrician but we had the same issue. Our family doctor advised to look for more severe symptoms before worrying about COVID . . .fever, fatigue, etc.

All that being said, my brother-in-law got a 2 hour rapid PRC test last night. The testing industry has definitely knocked down barriers to quick checks that can put you more at ease.

my daughter (18) developed a stuffy nose a few days ago. Then on Monday lost her sense of smell. We would not have had her tested otherwise. Rapid came back positive. Waiting on PCR.
Please tell me there's a special place in Heaven for Aggie fans! It's like we are living some sort of penance on Earth.

Wife tested positive Friday rapid and PCR to confirmed . I took the kids to get tested Saturday morning. Both 4 years old. Daughter had been tested previously after having a fever for several days.

Daughter negative, son positive. Weird because she had sniffles and cough. He was, has been, and is his usual ornery self. Doesn't know one iota that he is "sick".

I was also negative.

Wife has had it very minor so far. No fever, did lose taste and smell.

our young kids wont be subjected to a covid test, just like they wont be subjected to a mask.

My youngest asked to wear a mask one day at Sam's because everyone else had one and we gave her one, but never going to force it.

too many kids at their school are essentially hiding in the corner afraid to be kids because of this. hard pass from us.
