Quote:

Nursing homes likely should begin to see COVID-19 infection rates drop in coming days, the former Former Food and Drug Administration chief said Sunday.
"We will begin to see some indication that the vaccines are probably having an effect maybe as early as this week, because we know that immunity does begin to kick in about a week after vaccination," Scott Gottlieb said while appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation."
Vaccines normally offer immunity about a week after being administered, Gottlieb said. According to that standard, he said, death rates in American nursing homes should soon go down.

Would be good news.

We have a nursing home here that is experiencing a large outbreak. Almost every resident has tested positive over the last week. Most staff is also positive. They are quarantining the five or so residents who tested negative. So far only a few hospitalizations but most of them are early in the course.

They are working to figure out the initial source as they had been almost entirely spared during the outbreak thus far.

Definitely hoping this is one of our last nursing home outbreaks.

I assume rates will drop quickly, but we were supposed to be near 20 million vaccinated at this point. We're only at about 2 million.
