That is great but my 80 year old Aunt and Mom with Alzheimer's can't just go over there from Boerne. Their health provider said it's more risky for them to go to mass vaccination place at their age.

1500 per day at one site is a pretty good starting point.

That ain't ***** There are seven figures of people in Bexar county. They should be handling 1500 at the local paharmacy.

Alamodome is one of the biggest facilities in the state and the largest outside of Dallas or Houston. It needs to add a digit to that and quickly.

125 an hour?

is that all they have supply for?

I'm not going to say that's an impressive number, but I think all things considered, that's a respectable amount. At least initially. I'm sure as they learn, they'll be able to expand as things move forward.

Need to take that number up a log.

But no reason to not be positive about it. Need the same in every city with a stadium.

The (much-maligned/praised) drive-thru voting Houston and other cities did this past November would be an excellent model to employ en mass if supply allows.

When you first see that the Alamodome is involved you expect massive numbers, not 1,500 per day. I imagine it's a supply issue.

Really don't get the handwringing here. There are are only so many vaccines available. Once the Alamodome infrastructure is in place and supply is increased the number is going to skyrocket.

Again, have to start somewhere and supply is limited.

Got to prime the pump

Other than just the optics of it, not sure why they need a stadium that seats like 50000 to serve 1500 per day. Seems a little wasteful to turn on the heat in that place when you could handle 1500 at the local high school gym. As stated, hopefully they are getting it all ironed out so they can really open it up when the vaccs start really rolling in.

It would allow spacing on the floor to set up screening stations and shot stations; my guess is they will innoculate folks on the floor and then you go sit in the stands for 15 minutes to ensure no allergic reaction. Its not like they are going to fill the stands with people.

They may not even be doing it indoors. My shot w Harris County on Monday is in a stadium parking lot and it's my understanding that I'll never leave my car.

My wife and I both tried to register at 9:00 a.m.

Slots filled up before we finished filling out the form. Every slot we selected would no longer be available by the time we finished filling out our info.

If a thousand of these were set up around the US, that would be 1.5 million per day. That's only 20 per state.

I would say that's a really good start.

Yep and in 3 months 50% of the population would be vaccinated. Add the ~25% who already had COVID and you are damn close to herd immunity threshold.

Houston could use the Astrodome, but they'd have to offer bubonic plague and tetanus for anybody going into the building.
