My wife tested positive last Monday night. Was basically having seasonal allergy symptoms. Only COVIDish symptom was fatigue (no smell / taste / fever / etc issues). She went in to get a steroid to boost her through the allergies. Got a COVID test while there and came back positive.

Doc still prescribed Prednisone but she hasn't taken it yet. Allergy symptoms persist. I want to say that back in the early days of COVD taking steroids was not recommended? That early patients that did so, it seemed to put COVID into attack mode on the lungs?

For any docs on the board (or anyone that's been through it), any suggestions for her regarding the Prednisone? She would love to get a boost of something to clear up the headache / drainage / throat issues. Mucinex isn't cutting it. Only other thing we're all taking is the EmergencyPlus (Vitamin C/D/Zinc).

Thanks folks. Stay safe out there.

Not a doctor, but I saved this post with Doc Rev's recommendations on what he's putting his patients on. He mentions steroids early for those with risk factors. Scroll comments on this thread below.

Avoidance of steroids came out of China along with the need for ventilators. It was almost like they were telling us how to mismanage patients.

Prednisone is a very powerful steroid, and I could see how it might amp up the body's response.

Hope she does well, I wouldn't hesitate to take it if a doctors recommended it given the diagnosis.

with telemed appointments relatively easy to get, a second opinion from a doc might be the best route. Day 7-8 seems to be a turning point for a lot of people, so getting that done now would be what I would do.

Sorry, you're right of course. I always think of it in the derm impact, ironically.

Like anything with prednisone, I'd think it would need to be short term/monitored closely.
