This one is for the Doctors out there.

Just what were to happen if you were exposed shortly before getting vaccinated (and right in that window before a test would return a positive result). Would it render the shot ineffective? Would there be any side effects?

FWIW part of the questionnaire for UTSW Vax has to do with whether you have ever tested positive, and when.

There is no requirement anywhere to have a test as a non symptomatic person to get a shot.

Not a disqualified. In fact those frontline healthcare workers who have had it have still been encouraged to get vaccine.

I myself don't have COVID - I was just posting a hypothetical.

I guess my concern was, that once you get an appointment for the vaccine, should you go to ground in the days preceding to prevent the possibility of being exposed just prior to receiving it.

Your specific question has not been studied but it likely does not matter if you are pre-symptomatic when you get the vaccine. In fact the vaccine should help you not get a severe infection in theory at least. The Phase 3 studies showed robust response in ~2 weeks.
